I had 1 car with MBTex and found that it didn't ventilate well. The seats always felt hot and damp from sweat after sitting in them an hour or two. I can't comment on "warm in winter" because it is warm or hot here all year. Over the past 22 years I've only worn shorts or swim wear except when traveling. I do not like the feel of bare skin sticking to plastic (MBTex). The bottom line is that I do not like the smell or feel of MBTex. Leather smells better, feels better, is easy to clean and wears well. I've never encountered any wear on any seats - MBTex or leather.

If one is going to kill cows for food then why not use the hide for clothing and upholstery?

I understand, everything you need is more than 4 cylinders and another fuel than diesel.. So the conclusion must be that even S class is not a luxury car as the previous S class (W221) was available with a 4 cylinder diesel engine.

Well, the automobile industry describes it as a Mid-Size Luxury Sedan, and I agree with that. As would, I think, all MB dealers and owners. In my case at least, an S-Class would not fit well at all in my garage, plus I don't like a car that big. Luxury does not mean huge. I've driven and ridden in S-Class cars, and don't really see a difference in luxury, in general. I know there are specific differences, but quality, fit, finish, comfort (except for size) are about the same, to me. All you're really paying for is the larger, heavier car with a larger, more expensive engine.

I have 2 Mercedes with ARTICO (what in America is referred to as MB-Tex), 1 with leather, 1 with sun reflective leather. The leather is ok - it's way better than BMW leather. I found the ARTICO bullet proof and a good product. I haven't had nappa leather (or merino in the BMW).

I think $60-70k car with the latest safety and driving assistance amenities - definitely a luxury car! However 2L 4 cyl engine at that price point is a disgrace. I had more than a few E-Classes, but as soon as they came up with the weak sucker under the hood, I switched to GLS450... Which switched from V8 to V6 at the same time... but that's another story..

I completely agree! Further low profile wheels are standard (rough ride, flat tires) and the wagon is jacked up to look like an SUV.

BAD move MBUSA.

Agreed, I'm going to grab a 2020 E-class wagon before they are all gone. My X5 lease ends in Jan 2021 but I might turn it in a few months early while there are still some 2020 E450 wagons around. No way I'd buy that ugly 2021 All Terrain.

Just my $.02:

I always lease:

You will obligated to pay the remaining months on your X5 lease whether your turn in or not. The only savings, if you turn in it early, is insurance.

You may be able to work a deal on the 2020 E class to have the lease start at the end of your of your lease on the X5: this is what I did on my E450: the lease did not start until the lease on my prior car had ended.

MBUSA can do whatever it wants. I'm done. This should last me 10 years.

My lease ends in January on the 15th so my last payment is in late Dec 20. If I turn it in, in Nov its only two payments which I'm fine with. Hopefully in Nov there will still be sufficient quantities of the E450 wagon to choose from.

That is absolutely beautiful. I'm also interested in the Luxury styling and open to several exterior colors (Designo red like yours, silver, blue and gray). I'm good with any interior color MB Tex or Leather and the only two options I must have are the Premium Pkg and 3-zone climate control.

I see you had a V70R wagon, they are fantastic. My wife is driving a 2015.5 XC70 T6 wagon which is fun to drive. I polestar'd the XC70 and its a total sleeper.

Luxury Verion to be available in Germany

The Luxury version is known in Germany as the "Exclusive line and is available in Germany. Navigate to the MB Germany site where prices, pictures, configurator for the "Exclusive" can be seen.

https://www.mercedes-benz.de/passeng...-LS1-PZB/lines

With multiple grill variations in the US, it's hard to imagine dropping this classic look in our market.

It would appear that swapping the grilles would be an easy job. That said, I have to say that at first look, this new version of the traditional grille really isn’t all that appealing to me.

Partial 2021 E Class DOG

I was recently given this but as you'll find out there are blank place holders for the E63 which is still awaiting official reveal. The dealer who provided the guide hasn't even been given an answer to the question regarding the option of ordering a 2020 E63. It seems remote but then why is the answer so hard to provide? My PO was still in Net Star for whatever that's worth.

Unfortunately, you can't order Exclusive Line in U.S. And even in Germany it will be very limited, I think winding down. That's why the name "Exclusive".

That is awesome, Passion red. I've always loved the V70R. Back in 2004 the 300 HP this put out stock was pretty decent HP for a wagon. Thanks for posting.

MB didn't exactly knock themselves out designing the Luxury/Exclusive line grill. MB makes excellent automobiles, but I sometimes think they listen to themselves rather than the customers.

Hundens, it definitely seems so for 2021. I've just recently become a convert to MB/AMG when I decided back in January to get an E63s. I've had BMWs and a Porsche 928GT and have always followed the evolution of the AMG sedan and decided it's the best car for my particular interests.

I agree and don't think the new oval grill is as attractive as the currant "Luxury" style.

I'll join the club of maybe keeping my current car for the long haul if I can't have a traditional grille and hood ornament. I suppose most cars are "sport" in NA anyway, but this was a big reason I chose the car :

Beautiful wagon! MB just keeps chipping away at their heritage. They keep cutting corners, to cut costs. In so many ways, they are losing their status as a luxury brand. It is very easy to see that the new E was designed first as the “sport” model and then that ridiculous “cookie-cutter” Luxury grille was made to literally “snap in,” because the German market MUST have the traditional look available—even if it isn’t. Looking at how horrible the new Luxury grille looks, I guess I can understand why MBUSA didn’t want it here. In so many cases, the exterior styling of mid-cycle “face lifts” have been SUCH an improvement. In the case of the W213, the 2017-2020 was much better looking, IMHO. In the case of the Luxury version, it’s no contest.
