So I have an actual socket in my Mercedes I just use that now, it just works better and fast charges with no heat! 🙂
I've been using wireless almost exclusively for the past 3 years and don't have any issues. The only time my phone is ever charging with a cable is when I'm on the motorcycle. At home I use a wireless charger on my night stand and use the wireless charging in the car. I do not have issues with heat or slow charging. I do have to take the case off while in the car but not when it's on my home wireless charger. I think the majority of issues are the many cheep wireless chargers out there. Not all are created equal. I've had a few that were junk.

I fast charge my Phone, notebook, etc. to 100% at home each morning while I'm having coffee. The phone charge is good for a couple of days if needed. My notebook needs charging every 7-8 hours.

That is pretty nice battery life, how is your phone usage, is it possible you use the notebook more than the phone? Does the notebook have a limit charge option to proect the battery and you can simply plug it in all the time instead?

My phone, Galaxy S24, is used almost continuously for text and email (3 accounts), almost no voice.
My notebook is a top end 2024 HP Spectre x360. It gets heavy use for spreadsheets, database, network management, email (6 accounts), web and forums. The notebook is usually away from wall power, so it gets charged to 100% whenever possible. It is used 10 hours per day and is never turned off. The battery is rated for 12 hours. I get 7 or 8 hours, if lucky.

Right now my notebook is connected to the internet via my cell phone hot spot. Our power has been out for hours courtesy of Milton. I have an 8kw generator.

I see, understood, I must be doing something wrong because I have pretty much the same phone and only have two days of battery life and most of the time 1.5 days.

As for the laptop, I see, with such usage it makes more sense now.

Thank you for your response and your answer to my curiosity.

Wireless charging was never created to fast charge. If you want to fast charge, it's a software that activate the fast charge and connected to the port of the USB-C.

Yeah in 2024 I still find them not practical so like I said earlier I found an actual socket in the Mercedes for the backseat drivers I just use that and it fast charges and it's probably more of the correct voltage because again you have to also consider alternators fluctuate in voltage which may not be good for the phone!

My '18 E300 has 12v power sockets conveniently located throughout the cabin. My car also has a 110v outlet on the rear of the center console.

I don't think I'm following you here. What does "backseat drivers" mean? You found a socket in the back seat?

Regarding alternator and the fluctuating voltage. That is not the case in today's modern car. The DC is clean and doesn't fluctuate voltage. Although I'm confused as to what this socket is that doesn't have this perceived DC fluctuation. Unless it's an AC plug and you are using your own AC to DC converter, you are getting the DC produced by the car. The 12V auxiliary ports (otherwise known as cigarette lighter ports) and any USB ports are all DC supplied by the car. The voltage of all USB ports is 5V. The watts are what determines the ability to fast charge. If using the 12V auxiliary port with a USB charging adapter then you should know that many are junk. My bet is that you won't find one that is any better than the car USB ports. There are USB port testers on the market that can tell you the voltage and watts. If you are concerned, you can get one and verify your cars USB ports.

In the back at the bottom of the center console for the back seat drivers there is a USB port and an AC outlet in my 2017 Mercedes E300, maybe yours didn't come with it.

I don't believe I do. I have 6 USB ports with a combined 100W max for charging or supplying power to almost any USB powered device. And then two 12V auxiliary ports.

The 115v outlet option U80 was $115 as shown on the Monroney label.

That is not an option on the W214. Not sure why.
