Can't track location while on car carrier?
Hello,
I had my W213 shipped to my new home. It is currently on the Interstate and has been for two hours, yet shows the car still at the last location where the vehicle was running. Seems lame. Should I be able to see where the car is? i am getting the lovely accident warning whenever the car carrier is jostled hard enough. App shows it synced with the car minutes ago, yet no updated location??? Thanks! |
Maybe it has to be running to get a GPS location. Covers at least one use case where it is stolen and the thief is driving it. Doesn't cover it being towed or otherwise hauled. They will have to start it to take it off the carrier so I'm guessing it will report the new location then.

My thoughts exactly
I tried turning off and on the location digital feature and a few others. I tried flashing the lights. Neither inspired the vehicle to report the actual location, although the vehicle locator digital extra is now showing as "activation in progress". I will see in a few hours if that changes to "activated" and then shows the location. I suspect it won't activate until it is started again, bit we shall see. Perhaps the GPS creates enough of a parasitic drain that it is deactivated unless the key is turned? The fact is 99.9267% of the time, your car is where you left it, bit it should at least wake up once or twice a day to report in. "Just say'n" 🤓

Isn't technology wonderful when it escalates your anxiety rather than solves a problem? I stopped watching Norad's Santa tracker years ago, and now I sleep well on Xmas Eve.

Kinda like Amazon telling you your package is 10 stops away and two hours later it is still 8 stops away.

Thank you all for answering and for your humor. Turns out unless the car is started you can forget finding it. However, it can still make transport carrier meshugganah. Yes, I received alerts for 12 hours overnight that my car had been in an accident. Each time, ithinking an accident had occurred, the alarm waled and the carrier had to listen to it, and negotiate traffic. Poor guy.
