How to Remove the Border in Camera View

Hi everyone,

My car is a 2017 W213 Wagon imported from Japan, and I'm currently based in Australia.

I find the 360-degree camera extremely useful when parking. However, the display has a thick black border (see the picture below — apologies, it's a bit dirty), which limits the visibility. From what I've seen online, newer models seem to have improved this with a margin line instead of the black frame.

My question is: is there any setting that allows me to remove or reduce that border? Ideally, I just want to see the outline of my car more clearly. I’ve explored the settings but couldn’t find an option.

Alternatively, would updating the MBUX software potentially improve this feature? If so, the challenge is to update the system on a Japanese-imported vehicle, anyone knows whether it's doable?

Appreciate any insights — thanks in advance!

The black band represents a 1 meter safety margin around the car.

There is no way that represents 1 meter. Proportionally it's 1 foot at best.

When parking at home, I stop when the border image touches the wall in front of the car. The physical distance is approximately 1 meter.

Poor implementation then. Its clearly not proportional in the display. The MBUX 3 system is greatly improved. It has a border that represents roughly 1m as well or actually where the doors will swing out to when fully open.

not really given that it uses different hardware. You could probably retrofit it at a huge cost and then find a way to code the system.
