Motor Mount Replacement - need advice pls

Hi all,

I searched in the forum for info regarding the motor mount replacement on the W213 and didn’t see anything so I was hoping for some advice.

I have hard jerking when shifting out of park. Engine shifts perfectly while driving from 1-9 and back down. Just hard jerking out of park. Dealer found both front engine mounts are collapsed and the transmission mount is seating on the transmission crossmember. So all three mounts need replaced and the quote is $1,860.08 for all of that of which $852 is labor. Does this sound excessive or ok? I have never had to replace motor mounts before so any help is greatly appreciated.

Info on my car is: 2018 E300 sedan with 84,560 miles on it. I bought it new with only 21 miles on it in August 2018.

Thank you in advance for your help. Have a great evening. - Brandon

Way too killover for that job. But that's standard dealer pricing for you. I would highly suggest you do this job (if you're DIY savvy). I did mine twice and it took about 30-45 min each side. It's not hard at all. Just patience and tools is all you need. You can purchase the OEM motor mounts from FCP euro for $250.

I also don't think that your issue is motor mounts. They might be shot and need replacement, but if it's jerking when going from park to first gear it's more than likely something in the transmission/solenoids/TCU. I had to replace my plate on my E300 4Matic because it first started jerking out of park then started spreading to my 3 -> 4 & 5 -> 6 gears

Thank you Billyismyname….I appreciate your guidance. I’ll look into this. I am certainly not afraid of getting my hands dirty and learning something new.

It's just two bolts that hold the motor mount to the front subframe and then one bolt on top that holds the bigger motor mount that holds the engine (there are basically two motor mounts, but you want to change the ones that I sent a link of as those go bad). Just use a jack to hold the engine in place in the middle (with a 2x4 or something on top of the jack so you're not using the jack it self) when you do each side. The passenger side has a metal heat shield that held by three screws. Make sure you do this job with the engine and exhaust cold so you don't burn your self doing it.

If you need assistance or help I'm free to help out as much as I can.

The dealer’s quote of $1,860 for replacing both front engine mounts and the transmission mount on your W213 is reasonable. The labor portion is typical for a dealership, and replacing all three mounts at once is the correct approach to fix the jerking out of park.
