$1200 subscription pricing for full motor power on MB EQ

Yes, it shaves a full second off the 0-60 time, and it's a pretty significant power increase. But we should have access to the full potential of the vehicle, not have it software-unlocked. This is very disappointing - for something like cell service, I can understand. From an engineering and liability standpoint, the only thing I can think of that may justify a subscription model like this is that you stand a much higher chance of nuking your battery prematurely by repeatedly launching at full motor power availability. Not to mention the stress on the power delivery electronics. So, maybe it's a way for them to subsidize the eventual battery replacement costs under warranty. Who knows. Still, I would have expected better from MB. If I decided to get an EQE, I will likely use this as a bargaining tool on price. EQE is already a bit overpriced, this on top is not helping out. Let your dealers know this practice is unacceptable, maybe MB will change its mind on it. Hopefully this can be bypassed via SDS!

I am truly disappointed if this ends up being the case. (Who knows? Maybe they won't actually implement it?). I also do realize that the nominal power of the motors on EQE350V4 is 288HP. It may well be that $1200/year covers people who blow up their drivetrain and battery, like "ludicrous" mode in other brands. I'm not ready to quit the brand yet because of this, and am still considering the EQE. I've already called the sales manager at my dealer, asking him to push back on these plans. He wasn't aware of it. Maybe we can all force them to change their minds.
