Aftermarket wheels

I plan on getting some wheels but these factory lugs are SUPER LONG! I had a spare HRE wheel laying around and lug wouldn’t work at all. Any experience?

That's one of the reasons I decided to stick with OEM wheels with a "296" prefix in the the part number. All the MB wheels for the 296 chassis can use the stock lug bolts and they also have the correct offset.

I purchased the 29640103007X45 wheels from Alloy Wheels Direct.

your HRE wheel is not make for EQS spec that is why.
if you order another HRE wheel that's for EQS, the OEM lugs will work.
plus it is unsafe if you say "lugs are super long" due to wheel spec is wrong. you should email HRE for more info because some models HRE doesn't make for EV, I asked them already.

I think I figured it out.

EQS Wheel hub is MASSIVE, meaning it needs a longer bolt.

HRE wheel i have actually fits with a BMW lug bolt for test fitment but actual bolt is 1.25 where benz is 1.5. I just ordered 1.5 lugs so will do better fitment next week

I am not convinced that simply changing the length of the lug bolt to "work" with the HRE wheels you have is a safe thing to do. There must be a reason that "MB chose to make the center of the EQS wheels about 20mm thicker than its other SUVs. I wonder if the EQS Sedan and EQE chassis also have the extra thick wheels.

I have a EQS sedan also and it has "normal" wheels with using regular size 45mm bolt. EQS SUV is about 30mm thicker

So I spoke with a few wheel guys I know. They said the EQS having a fat hub on the wheel does nothing for the car actually. Instead, it actually adds weight. I did look at the wheel more in depth and the spokes are super fat. Usually, spokes are 1-2 inches deep but this one is solid 5" deep, which can be the reason why the hub is 2" bigger than any other MB wheel. Very odd why they made a wheel like this.

The EQS SUV is a heavier and has higher center of gravity than the EQS Sedan. It's also heavier than a GLS which uses M15x1.25 bolts. Until I hear something official from MB I decided to stick with the OEM thick hub wheels. I wonder what the lug bolt length is on the EQE SUV.

Yes. So I bolts on EQS are M14x1.5, old set up. Seems like newer MB SUVs are M15x1.25.
