Driving long distance wit keeping your hands at 9 and 3 is going to be painful. Unless you're on track. The majority of people ride with left hand at 12 or 12 and 3. Maybe is just me and i don't get the yoke and who wants to deal with dictatorships anyway?

I drive with my hands at 930 and 230. I don't know why anyone would drive with their hand at 12. It's not safe given that there is an airbag. It's also not safe because it gives you less control. The ideal positions are 930 and 230, or 4 and 8 if you are doing long distance cruising and want to rest your arms.

Regardless of where you put your hands, an actual steering 'wheel' gives you the option of multiple positions. The Tesla Plaid game controller (not a steering wheel) does not. But no worries, Tesla fanboys will buy anything Elon Musk tells them to buy. I admit I like some of the things Tesla has done and they created the groundwork for EV's but I don't trust them as a company to invest over a $100K in a car. Their lack of a dealer network to see and test drive their products and provide real service departments is the biggest reason I wouldn't buy a Tesla. And I wonder if they will even be around after several more years of increased competition. But to each his own. It's your money, spend it however you want.

Agree. The yoke is dumb.

Excellent report on the EQS

This excellent video is unfortunately only in German but there is lots of great info in here. Use Google translate for the article

The German Car Mag AMS did some real life tests with the EQS 450+ and their findings were that the car was the most quiet, the most efficient (easily beating any Tesla) and the fastest charging car.
Lots of good info.

Interesting tidbit was that the flush door handles barely add to the range of the car. Merely 500 meters of range improvement…

Would be nice if someone someday tested the range impact of different wheel sizes and designs.

There is some good information about the range as a f(wheel size) for 19, 20, and 21in wheels at the Audi eTron website. https://www.audi.de/de/brand/de/elek...eichweite.html
At moderate highway speed, it seems to be about a 5% effect - not insignificant!

It might be to do with wheel design vs size. The 19 and 20 have the same efficiency on that site. Only the 21 has a drop in efficiency. It is the same at Tesla. 19 and 20" wheels have the same efficiency which Tesla attributes to the aero design.

I know your right, but I still like the feeling when I'm stuck in traffic barely moving, that I could get to 60 in less than 3 seconds if it wasn't for all those other cars in my way. Also merging onto the highway is always tons of fun in my Tesla, So has anyone heard any more news/rumors about the AMG version of the EQS? I'm not talking about the trim, but early on there was talk about a faster, longer ranger version of the EQS labeled as the AMG version?

The only tidbit I can offer is designo will be available is late Q1 '22.
I'm really torn on what to do.
Part of me is so tempted to grab an early one. but I've seen the early movie with an ML320 and my S430 and I really didn't like the movie or the ending.
I also like AMG's better. I don't know yet if the suspension tuning and brakes are going to be radically different.
In a fantasy world I could help develop and road test the AMG models...
Pricing of the '21 S580 is available now so the AMG line is ~120K plus goodies, So I'm figuring the EQS580V to come in around 135k nicely dressed.
That is a lot lower than I had feared. So maybe the AMG flavor will be within reach

Remember, that’s pricing for the 2021 model, not the 2022. Anyone find it interesting that Mercedes finally came out with pricing on the 21 model which you can’t even order anymore. My dealer has been taking orders on 22 S class models for a few months and no prices are available on that model to my knowledge.

that's rather annoying since it infers the update won't be an OTA but a physical change.
so if it doesn't ship with it, it won't have it.

New video from Benzblogger. On her instagram she mentioned at 75% battery she had a range of 300 miles (I assume this was the 580).

Nice find JS! I noticed on both of the EQS they had the AMG bumpers, which follows the updates we have been getting from the Order Guide. I also noticed the ridiculous front wheel reflectors, hopefully just glued on.

Why must you always be so negative? I found a spy shot of the actual vehicle and so they took a little artistic license, so what?

If you read the press release it sounds like the EQXX is a technology concept, not a vehicle intended to go into production.

In some countries, EQS to offer rear-wheel steering as a subscription rather than a pay-once-upfront option.

I also saw in a video where they said the cars have the ability to have either the 4.5 degree or 10 degree steering and it was just a software change. Guy in video said how do you feel that you have to pay extra to get the 10 degree steering when it’s already on the car. However, this won't be an issue in the US as 10 degree steering is supposed to be standard on all models.
