These are just a couple of examples. The weakness of batteries is that they need an electrical charge to be able to generate electricity. Currently, that charge is provided by burning toxic fossil fuels. The supply of toxic fossil fuels is finite in contrast to hydrogen which is the most abundant element in the universe. The only by-product from burning green sourced hydrogen is water, not the toxic hydrocarbons generated when burning fossil fuel.
As of today BEV's are more energy efficient than hydrogen powered cars.

Wrong. What do you plan to use for an electricity generating source to charge your Battery for your EV once the planet killing fossil fuel runs out? You won't need to worry about that with a hydrogen powered car.

Couple personal opinions here on the one-pedal braking.
1. It is more efficient - not sure about that. Porsche benchmarked their Taycan on the model S. Their comment was that coasting without regeneration (i.e., nothing until you physically push the brake pedal) is the most efficient solution, as there is no such thing as 100% efficiency when you convert kinetic energy back to electricity. Thinking of physics, this is probably correct. Also the Taycan gets substantially more range than EPA rating, they must be doing something right with their implementation of blended regeneration / physical braking....
2. One-pedal braking is the hallmark of EVs and once you experience it you cannot live without it. For a long time I thought this is true - then I got my Taycan. The coasting implementation is fantastic - very different from an ICE vehicle where you always have some engine brake. Probably closest sensation is if you switch to neutral while driving (don't do it, it is illegal . After driving a Tesla for 5 years, it took me a little time to re-adjust. Now I find single-pedal driving very irritating whenever I take my wife's Model 3 for a spin.

I am seriously considering the EQS (or EQE) as a replacement when my Taycan lease expires. I will probably switch default regenerative braking to off and enjoy the ride without building up my leg muscles trying to modulate how much I lift off....

What that car showed is that there was some inherent superiority in doing things differently than they had been done for the last century.
The other thing that Tesla got right vs. traditional manufacturers is their user interface. I love the luxury of my Taycan, but finding submenus in submenus in submenus quite annoying. I miss the intuitive Tesla interface. Furthermore, the remote accessibility of my Taycan is hit or miss while I never had problems in the Tesla - car has been in the shop 3 times for this issue. Bang on time, the remote pre-heating stopped working as soon as we started having 40s in the morning..... Time for another trip to the dealer, as of course this cannot be diagnosed over the air....

This is the great thing about the EQS. It can be setup to be driven however you want.

When electric vehicles were offered in very limited production - it was very cool. But it's changing very rapidly right now... and before you commit yourself to a (non-hybrid) fully electric vehicle, you have to prepare yourself and think twice about the questions like:

- Are you ready to deal with cables and chargers?
- Are EQ vehicles really going to save you money?
- Are EV's really good for the climate?

So the Wallbox $700 + tax + installation, labor and parts! You're going to spend more money on the first day... than most people spend on gasoline in the entire year!

Its a home upgrade, and the final cost will be much less after rebates and tax breaks. I paid $699 for my ChargePoint HomeFlex and I got a $300 rebate from my utility company. I will get my tax breaks next year for the Wallbox and installation.
Besides... I don't know why people have it in their heads that buying a $100k MB is about saving money?!?
If I wanted to be cheap I would buy a used Nissan Leaf and only charge at work.

Generally, people mess with cables and chargers because they want to save money on gas. Obviously, you can get a $100k Mercedes with either an electric or gasoline engine. But on a gasoline-powered engine vehicle, you don't have to deal with cables, installation, and chargers. Only 5-minute fill up once in a while.

So now let's see, have a garage for the car, charger is in garage, plug in charger when I get home and I'm good for another 350 miles tomorrow.
Well Gee golly, I'm just not sure I can handle that kind of complexity in my life.

or maybe I take one of these that day.

2025 EQS580
I watched several videos of a professional test driving the EQS580. Besides the fact that he loves the car except for a couple things he says could have been better (exterior styling, braking)), he says that the range by the EPA is underestimated. He thinks in the real world, the range will be well over 400 miles. He was driving it real hard.

Seemed like a typical Russian video to me. Hyperbole and misinformation. His whole section on range anxiety in particular was comical in its stupidity.

I was slightly disappointed that he chose the lower level cars ( EQS450 and S500 6 cyl) and not the EQS580, S580 V8 level.

These "lower level cars" ( EQS450 and S500 6 cyl) are the top models in the UK. They do not get the EQS 580 or the V8 S class. I am not sure if they get the AMG S-Class or if they will get the EQS53.

Really, I find racing luxury cars around a track, logging 0-60 and 1/4 mile times all a bit silly but that's CarWow, just click-bait. Nothing more than a little fun.

580 delay rumor

https://electricvehicleweb.com/mercedes-eqs-hyperscreen-semiconductor/"

November 1, 2021

According to the report, the Mercedes EQS 450+ is available and will roll out as usual by the end of 2021. It is dependent on the options the customer has chosen, but the 450+ does not get the MBUX Hyperscreen as standard. As such, 450+ variants without the Hyperscreen roll out first. It’s possible to buy the EQS 450+ before the end of 2021, suggests a more recent report from JESMB.

The 580 4Matic customers, on the other hand, will have to wait about a year, according to the first report. Depending on semiconductor availability, 580 4Matic will start rolling out from the third or fourth quarter of 2022, JESMB says".

Don't believe it. The EQS580 is the last car they would allow to be impacted by the semiconductor shortage. They would suspend several other models before they allow the EQS to be impacted.
