WTH is the situation with the rear seat cup holder?

WTH is the situation with the rear seat cup holder?
Just drove an EQS loved the front but hated the fact that there isn't a single cup holder in the back. WTH are we supposed to put in those slots?

They are there, in the middle armrest there is an area at the front, press it twice, first its a pen holder, and a second press opens up the cupholders. Its definitely a weird design, the S-Class also has it.
