W169 A Class Blower resistor

Hi Folks
I've got a 2005 A 180 CDI with a blower problem, fan only works in full position. In other cars it's been the blower resistor pack. My problem is I'm getting conflicting advice as to which side of the centre console the pack is located. I do have a USA dvd manual for it and it says it's on the right side accessed by taking out the glove box but of course mine is a UK car and whilst iv'e looked both sides I can't find it!

Best regards
Dave
PS There is lots of info on the first A Class, including a Haynes manual but not for the Mk 2 W169.

Looking for a blower resistor too. My model is W169 A170 in Australia. Bert Rowe has an excellent site showing how to find and remove the resistor pack for W168. But No matter how hard I look behind the carpet on the driver's side(right hand drive) or on the passenger's side, I can't find one. Removed cover from engine side of firewall to see the motor housing in case the resistors had been moved to there, but no joy, apart from a good cleanup while I was there. This site www.partsbase.org/parts/mercedes-a1698200397/ shows the resistor pack as part 40 or 45 and the exploded drawing may indicate that it is located on the passenger's side. Anybody know where I should look please?

Too late, I'm sure, but I only just joined here ...

Haven't had to remove / replace this one myself (yet), but pretty sure it'll be on the left for a RHD car, as it is next to the SAM, and this one is definitely under the glove box.

Well, Thanks for the interest!
If you look at the Bert (Lofty) Rowe site in Britain now, you'll find the results of a joint effort between Bert and myself, complete with photos. The A169 in Oz does not have a resistor pack, it's a fairly complicated electronic controller, necessary to allow 12 speeds for the fan. It is located in an almost impossible place to access. And it is expensive. Best Regards, Megawatt Man
