Targa Trophy - Los Angeles to Vegas - Sports Car Festival - November 21, 2015

I personally have never participated an a Targa Trophy event. I've been invited to join many times in the past, but never gone. But this time around, I'm considering to go. I know some think that Targa Trophy is / would be a pretty cool event. While others think it's a waste of time, money, gas, and risk to damaging the car. Both perspectives are totally understandable. Is there anyone that's planning to participate in the event by chance? As of right now, of all the people I've asked, there's only two people who said that they'd be up to do it (one of them being my bro, who will probably end up riding with me). So technically, that's just one other person. I've texted a few W211 AMG peeps but no for sure answers as of yet. Just trying to gauge if anyone has interest. If there are people who are up for it, I'll be more inclined to go. Below are the details... https://targatrophy.com/targa-trophy...ember-21-2015/ |
I too have been considering this event. I cant seem to find specifics about what exactly takes place though.
-Is it quickest time? (I know its not "a race") -Is it one day of driving, or two? -it could be cool to have access to the garage in Vegas and see all the cars together Aria is a great spot https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.mbw...68ea076ed0.jpg |

Also, any special equipment needed or suggested for this? (radar detector, dedicated timer)
the videos on the web site look fun, but don"t answer my questions as someone who has never participated in something like this. FORUMS + ALCOHOL = STREAM OF CONSCIOUSNESS |
Per my buddy who has participated twice in similar events, you'll need a good passenger to be your navigator.
A radar detector is always good to have. From what he's explained, there are various checkpoints that they give you the morning of. Since Vegas is roughly a 4-5 hour drive (under "normal" driving speeds) from Los Angeles, I can only guess it's a one day driving event. As far as quickest time... no idea. As of right now, what's the percentage of you attending? |
Right now my chances of attending are about 25%. I have tons of travel that week and the following, trying to figure out if I can swing it.

Targa Trophy
I would love to see some pics or hear how the Targa Trophy experience was if anyone here participated.

Best way to describe Targa Trophy is the "Best Cars driving the best roads!" Its a great time with a wide variety of upscale sports cars.
The winning time is based on the owners completion of the same route a week prior. An APP is given to you with directions and checkpoints. The routes are strategically planned for all driver levels. Once arrived at destination there is an after party where everyone shares their experiences and enjoys the evening. Great group of people, Great Roads, Amazing Cars = Great Time! If you have not checked it out, its a must. Below is a video from the starting grid at Eibach Headquarters. https://www.flickr.com/photos/carnin...57661507320841 |
Thanks!
