Thank you HK so much...that's interesting, if it wasn't for this forum I will probably be convinced that Laguna Niguel dealership is my only option...

OK, in this case is time for me to do some research and get a decent deal instead of that $6,000 for 5years

If anyone one can point to me where should I look, a honorable dealer ...(haha this is ALMOST an oxymoron!!...but I still have faith, should be some good people out there in the jungle of dealing cars) ...and like I said if I am lucky to find that honest/honorable dealer, who knows, I may have the money to take my 13 years daughter on vacation this coming spring break.

Jeff Jackson provided the lowest price and best customer service. He was extremely efficient, very courteous, professional and polite. He gave me a quote very quickly over the phone. He was able to beat the quote my local dealership gave by 2,000 dollars and he beat Mark Rose's quote by 900 dollars. He was also very nice to let me know that MBUSA was considering to remove the 15% surcharge fee for ELWs and told me to wait a few days so he could be sure by getting confirmation from MBUSA first. Sure enough Jeff called me back a few days later confirming that MBUSA decided to waive the 15% surcharge fee for ELW's. No other finance rep mentioned this to me because either they were not aware of it or did not want me to know. Save yourself the time, money and hassle and go with Jeff Jackson.

First off, a huge thank you to the forum members for their insight and advise. Spending a hour reading the thread, can save many hours and $s.

A double thumbs up to Jeff Jackson of Tafel Motors. Just purchased the 3Y / 100K MB ELW for my 2015 C-300.
Reached out to all the dealers mentioned on this forum and Jeff was much more responsive and quoted the lowest price. He emailed a copy of the draft ELW contract for review and answered Qs on the phone.
Friendly, very knowledgeable and concluded on phone with minimal fuss.

For others benefit, pricing below for a 2015 C-300:
3Y/75K: 3Y/100K:
Jeff Jackson: $1600 $2600
Cassandra: $1750 $2750
Jamie Ruis: $2000 $3000 Make it sound like he was giving me a great deal!
Local MB dealer: $4,455 Platinum plan from Fidelity
Mark Ruis: ? ? IMO, was arrogant on the phone. Refused to quote and said I should only call him after doing all my research and when ready to buy.
Never a good idea to dictate to your customers how they should buy.

Endurance: $4,074 $4,320 Supreme policy, their highest coverage and exclusionary coverage. Deductible of $100 but policy starts 30 days / 1000M after purchase, which means it overlaps the factory coverage.

Other points on the MBUSA ELW:
1. No deductible. Sold and backed by MBUSA.
2. Starts only after the 4y/50K miles factory warranty ends, no overlap.
3. Warranty work can only be done at a MB dealer.
4. Can be cancelled for 100% refund before factory warranty ends. After that, prorated refund minus any claims paid.
5. Fully transferable to a new owner - private party only, not if traded in or sold to a car dealer.

Sounds good. Does your vehicle have ABC suspension? ABC suspension has gotten a lot more reliable over the years, but if you get it to 75000 miles before the warranty runs out you might encounter some ABC suspension issues.

Is it possible to purchase the MB extended warranty if you are the second owner? I am shopping for a pre owned GL550 and am considering purchasing the extended warranty when the factory warranty expires. I read somewhere that only the original owner could purchase the MB extended warranty.

They will take your money if mb extended is purchased while the vehicle is still under the factory warranty. Once go go a mile over you are out of luck.

Yes. I had no problems purchasing the ELB for my C300. I bought the car in Dec 2015, when it was 8 months old - it was not a CPO or purchased from a MB dealer.
I purchased the ELB in June 2018.
As noted above, the only requirement to my knowledge, is that the original 4Y/50K factory warranty has not expired.

I am planning to buy a new E53 in a couple of months (assuming there is no tariff) and was wondering if any of the extended warranty type options HAD to be done at time of sale or whether they could be done after the fact.
I don't expect to put a lot of miles on it, but would like as many years factory coverage as possible.

When we got out 2016 C300 and GLC300 we had heard about a guy named Marc Rose at W.I. Simonson Mercedes Benz in Santa Monica, CA. So when we recently got a 2018 E300 and 2018 E400 4Matic, I called Marc. 4 Years later he's still head of finance and still a pleasure to work with. We now have our new car warranty for 7 years. The great thing was the warranty we had purchased for the 2016's never was used and we're getting 100% of what we paid refunded. If you want his contact information, please don't hesitate to PM me.

I used Joseph Casey at Mercedes-Benz of Little Rock when I got warranty coverage on my S550. He had posted here on mbworld before, and I reached out to him after seeing a couple of his posts. He's been with MB for a few years and is that dealer's Finance guy. He was easy to talk with about the questions I had, but what impressed me is that he provided screenshots of MB's computer systems which showed me the available plans, pricing, everything. It was more than I expected, and it made the choice easy because he provided screenshots of the costs for the programs, so I wasn't just taking his word for it. He charged me $50 over cost plus tax and I did it over the phone with him in just a few minutes after emailing back and forth. Anyway thought I'd give my 2 cents since everyone is asking. I last contacted him via email here: jmc.mblr@gmail.com

Did you get the 100k/7yr on your two cars? I assume you can’t share details here but I’d like to know more via PM.
Thanks

So tonight I am considering an agreement for a MB extended warranty that will take me to March 2021 on my ‘14 C300. I have a question and I hope I did not miss the answer in this thread.
If I perform my own simple maintenance, i.e., oil change, coolant flush, brake fluid flush, etc... does this void or throw any caveats into the warranty where future service or repairs may not be covered? I have not had a chance to read the agreement in its entirety. Hoping to get a quick answer from those of you who may have experienced this first hand. My conversation with the MB rep did not give a clear answer. He responded, “I would not recommend performing your own service unless you know how to reset all the vehicle’s coding.”
Thanks in advance!

2016 GLE300d 4MATIC
I just bought an extended limited warranty for my 2016 GLE 300d from Jeff Jackson. The local dealer asked for $5904 with $250 deductible for 7yrs/100k while Jeff asked for $4379 with zero deductible. The entire purchase took almost 2 months since I was contemplating between 7yrs/75k and 7yrs/100k. Jeff and I had numerous email discussions regarding my questions during that time. I had a positive experience with him, and highly recommend him to other Mercedes owners looking for ELW. His email address is jjackson@tafelmotors.com and phone number is (502) 896-4411 ext 1246.

For those still looking for options:

I used Joseph Casey at Mercedes-Benz of Little Rock for all my vehicles' warranty coverages. He was well below any local dealer and handled everything via email & over the phone in just a few minutes; sent me copies of everything immediately after purchase. I was very happy with what I got from him!

I ended up getting a 2 year extension of CPO coverage for my 2016 C300. Easy to work with, available every time I called, and answered any questions very promptly.

You can contact him via email at jmc.mblr@gmail.com

This is great material folks. I recently purchased a 2015 E400 26k mi sedan from a third party dealer and the local MB of Tampa straight out told me NO, MBUSA will not honor the 2nd owner's purchase with a ELW. Being in the BMW platform this was a turnoff, and I took my business to Miami due to the fact I love the E400. Once my Warranty is up Oc 2019, I will be contacting the guys listed above. Thanks MB community - Your local BMW driver lol

Make sure you do your comparison shopping for the MB ELW before your factory warranty runs out. Once the factory warranty is expired, you won't be able to purchase an ELW from MB. The deal needs to be done before the expiration date. Since the ELW starts after the expiration of the factory or CPO warranty, you aren't really saving any money by waiting til the last minute.

More to your point that you aren't saving money by waiting till the last minute, it's more likely one will ultimately pay more. The longer one waits to purchase the ELW, the price continues to go up. To get the absolute lowest cost deal, one should actually buy within 30 days of taking delivery of their new car. The great news is if you trade or sell your call with an extended policy, you are entitled to a refund, which if the car is sold or traded before the original new car warranty is up, is 100%.

The guy in CA, I buy my ELW's from says the price goes up. Probably not a lot, but he said it increases the longer you wait.

So it increases in 30 day increments based on your purchase date? I don’t see how it would do that.

Too bad your dealer won’t give you a great deal on the ELW.

I have no specific knowledge of the increases, incrementally or not. Just relaying what he told me.

I have a friend who used to run a Mercedes dealership and I asked him how the ELW works. He said that the dealer has a fixed cost from MB for the ELW depending on the cost of the car and term of the warranty. They mark that up to pay for the commission to the F&I guy and dealer markup. Many of the dealerships mark up the cost of their ELWs 200-300% over their cost for their local customers.

The reason some of the dealerships will sell you an ELW for much less is that they know you aren't local and won't be buying anything from them, so they figure they can give you a discount and make some money without much more than a few minutes time for their F&I guy to send you a quote and take your credit card.

Say their fixed cost for your MB is $1000 for a GLK for a three year extension. They can charge you $600 - 800 over that for less than 30 minutes work by their F&I person and make money from a customer they wouldn't normally get any money from. If they do it a lot, they can make as much off of ELWs as selling cars, with less effort and no down side.

There used to be a 15% surcharge if you didn't buy the ELW when you bought the car, but MB cancelled that recently. I think that's what your guy was referring to when talking about the price increase within 30 days.

That certainly could be what he was referring to. For me, I'll buy it right away so I can do what I'm really good at, which is procrastinate and forget to get it altogether.
