Extended warranty help E-Class (W212)
My 2010 E350's warranty is about due. I am looking into an extended warranty.
My dealer says the Mercedes 3yr. 75,000 warranty would be $2899. There is another (Zurich I believe) warranty I can get for 6 years 100,000 miles at $6691, so just over $1000 per year.
How are these prices? Somewhere I can get better prices than this?

BTW, neither of those two are very good at communication or getting back to you. I tried to contact Erin, left a message and never got a call back. Dan Boone is the F&I manager and if you get a hold of him, ie. he answers his phone, he is fantastic and will set you up and even help you out in other things that he would not have a vested interest to help you with. But if you leave him a message or shoot him an e-mail there is a good chance that he'll forget about you.

I have seen this extended warranty provider name mentioned many times on the bimmerfest forum. Looks cheap enough but do your due diligence research on them as I have never used them myself.

Contrary to a previous post, my experience in buying a MB Extended Warranty from Erin of Santa Rosa MB was absolutely superb! She has many years of varied MB experience, took time to explain all the warranty details, helped me compare and assess the various warranty packages (years/miles), offered an excellent price, and made the phone transaction easy to complete. I expect to buy another MB next year, and Erin will be the first one I call for the extended warranty. Call Erin.

My 2 cents
I went with Geico as my extended warranty offered with insurance.
I am paying $108 every 6 months for 7 year / 100k miles
i used it on my 2009 E350 changing my struts rear end both side i paid $250 deductible everything else was covered under extended warranty it had 79k miles total bill was $1875 i paid $250.
I have the same on my current 2012 E350 with 38k miles and extended will kick in after manufacture expires,
if you have geico do not call just go online add the extended warranty to the policy but it has to be 1 year old and 12k miles or less to qualify so they will make money on you for the first 4 year/ 50k manufacture after that Geico will pick up

FWIW, the COMAND unit on my '06 SL died earlier this year, but it was covered by the ext warranty. The bill would have been $7000+.
So, it's good idea to have an ext warranty that also covers the electronics.

The video says it covers more than the manufacturers warranty - not sure what they mean since b2b is pretty comprehensive. Without seeing terms it is hard to know how you benefit for the first 4/50k, but I suppose that is how they sell you on it while you are still under the b2b.
At the cost of $108 every 6 months quoted above, you are looking at paying $1,300-$1,500 over the 6-7 year term of ownership for the coverage to kick in for the final 3 years. You'd have to be pretty certain that you plan to keep the car for up to 7 years at the time you buy or lease it. Or else you are paying into coverage that you won't benefit from. As opposed to an MB extended warranty that you can buy right before you go out of warranty when you'd have a better idea if you are keeping it or not. I think the MB extended is refundable too if you cancel it before it goes into effect.

Here is a third party one from another forum.

Personally I would probably go with the dealer one that was about a grand a year if it was "all inclusive". But my car is different model and older. I am just very distrustful of third party, been burned before. Good Luck... Rich

That why you have a choice - I went with Geico cause i have used them before on my 2009 E350 78k miles no problem what so ever no hassle
Yes i agree if you going to keep the car then i like Geico if you are not decided what you will do then i say go with MB as you can cancel or take the extended when the manufacture runs out
I know i will be driving 100K so for me extended Geico is perfect i drive 23K every year.
Freedom of Choice - I LOVE IT

good point on the high mileage. The more you drive per year, the more the geico option makes sense (assuming you have your coverage with them). At 23k per year, that 100k coverage essentially gives you a 4 year warranty (2 extra years) for $864. Even less if you wait until 12k to get it.
