Therefore I thought it might be helpful for you all to see the current MSRP from MB for various models.

Thank you. New to the MB world. Help me out. We bought a '14 ML350 CPO. If I understand correctly, we got an extra year of bumper to bumper with no mileage limit, and we can purchase an add'l 1 or 2 years on top of that with no mileage limit. The way I read the chart, you cannot buy any add'l warranty with unlimited mileage if you purchase the car new?

Your CPO warranty can be extended by another 1 or 2 years at an extra charge.
The ELW warranties are not available once a car has been given a CPO warranty.

Thanks. A CPO can get up to 7 years from new bumper to bumper (no "limited") with unlimited mileage, vs an ELW 7 years from new with a mileage limit of 100k and restrictions on coverage. Buying a 1 year old CPO seems to be the better bet if you intend to keep the car and put a lot of miles on it. Or am I still missing something?

The only thing missing from your comparison is the cost of the CPO two year extension vs. the cost of a 7 yr / 100K mile ELW warranty. I've never purchased a 2 year CPO extension and therefore don't know the pricing.

Of course, another advantage when buying a CPO, is that it is a used car which has already "suffered" significant depreciation vs. a new car.

If you can find a less than 1 year old car, with about 20-25% depreciation from MSRP, I personally would go the CPO +2 year extension route.

The issue is always finding what you want in the used CPO car category with the options, color, etc. that you want.

Quick question. When it says 5 year/75k, does that mean it is really a 1 year/25k extended warranty since the standard warranty is 4 year/50k?

You are absolutely correct. We knew what we wanted and I had to go out 200 miles on the old, very friendly MB website to find it. When we were finalizing the purchase, the dealer tried to sell us the add'l 2 years of bumper to bumper. $3,500.00 if we bought on the spot. If we waited, it would be an add'l 15%. There are numerous threads here giving names and nbrs of dealers who will sell the add'l warranty at a discount. My sense is that it is a commission arrangement. MB gets say $3k of the $3.5k So there's $500.00 to play with. The sales person then reduces their take by offering you say $3,250.00 and forgoing the 15%.

Your chart shows $3,750 for an M class for 7 yrs and 100k miles. If that's from new, it makes the CPO competitive in a sense. My M must have been an ordered one. The sticker price was $68,500. I got it for $41,500 minus the trade. The car had 30,000 miles on it. So 2.5 yrs of ownership cost somebody $27,000 less whatever the discount might have been. That's about $800 a month.

And, aside from the depreciation aspect, someone else has gone through all the teething problems of a new one...

Not to belabor a point (but I am), our local dealer posts the MSRP build sheet with their CPO's. Here's an example. A $54k when new ML with 13k miles being offered for $43k at 1 year old. 20% =/- depreciation in 12 months. And you can get 6 more years of Bumper to Bumper, instead of ELW.

When we bought the C450 the F&I guy was trying to sell it at tier 4 which is BS so we declined it.

My reading comprehension is sufficient.

Neither vehicle is included in that posted pdf which I read closely prior to posting. Hence my reason for posing the question.

Again, I was hoping to find what tier the C450 and GLC43 fall under. Dealers DO NOT treat the C450 the same as a std C-class. Additionally, the pdf does not include any GLC models neither the GLC300 nor the GLC43 are mentioned.

I suspect the table is now outdated since the M and GLK class vehicles are no longer produced.
Any useful insight would be appreciated.

The table above is still current, according to my local dealer. Further research, on your behalf, shows the following:

GLC300 is Tier 1
C450, GLC43, C43, and GLE300 are all Tier 2
GLE43 is Tier 3

It would appear that the approach MB is taking on the "43" models is +1 Tier vs. their "non-43" model counterparts. This also applies to the C450.

The pricing in the pdf above is also still current. I wasn't able to find out if/when there will be an update. GLK=GLC, M=GLE.

There is still a lot of confusion out there surrounding the '43 models. I'm pretty sure that's why we were misquoted for the C450. Having this info will help tremendously when dealing with the F&I guy.

Keep in mind that you have to take in to account the 15% surcharge that MB adds for purchasing warranty 30 days after the time of sale. Also, that chart can't be used as a guide for Certified Pre-Owned Warranty and the same time stip applies to CPO warranty as well.

I got a 2014 e350, with 43k miles on it, non-CPO; but passed the 172 point inspection, still under warranty until end of may or 7k miles.
I would like to get pricing on this extended warranty.
