Hello I have an 09 SL550 with sport package. My front caliper started leaking from the piston seals. This is my daily beater so I just purchased a low mileage OEM takeoff to replace it. I’m mechanically inclined so hoping for a simple swap.

I did the pads several years ago with the lock/unlock procedure to deactivate SBC and turn the wheels to reset.

I just need to unbolt the caliper and hook the line up to the new one. Can I just deactivate the SBC that way again, and bench fill the new caliper and hook it up? Or do I need a fancy scanner and to bleed the system after install? Trying to avoid the shop but it’s an option. I just need to keep the car on the road cheap and easy

First, I wanted to thank everyone that helped out with the cylinder replacement on my wife's 2005 SL-500. I also had to fix the ABC (Rodeo was just that - wow). Anyway, looking for some diagrams of all the under hood reservoirs. I looked through the user manual and can't find a description of the tank that is right behind the ABC reservoir. The dipstick in the cap shows that it is low but I can't seem to find low of what. Also, I need to find "fuse 25" in the front engine fuse box. The scanner indicates that it causing an issue with the alarm horn. I have gotten the error codes down to just 3 - almost there.

I picked up this 2008 SL550 a few months ago and am trying to get some needed maintenance done on it. It has a very slow leak from the oil filter/cooler housing so I'm going to replace that with all new gaskets and filter. While I'm in there I'm going to replace the thermostat housing and thermostat and the belt. I have no idea when the last coolant change was done so I'm going to do that too. I'm also getting the ABC fault warning light when I go over certain highway bumps so it sounds like one of the accumulators so I thought I'd replace them both along with the pulsation dampener. All the parts and fluids arrived last week so I'm starting with the accumulators.

I got the car up on stands and have all the plastic parts off the left rear wheel area and I'm trying to get the bracket that holds all the ABC components. I've watched several videos that show how to remove it from it's location, however, those videos seem to be of an older model with a different arrangement of the components in the bracket. I've removed the 10mm nut from the top hold down as well as that metal cover on the rubber piece that hold the 4 pipes at the bottom of the car. (see photos) I'm now trying to pull the bracket back in order to slide that plate that hold the bottom of the bracket. I can only get it to slide partially back because of the tension caused by the pipes. It needs to come back another 1 1/2" or 2" but there's no more give in those pipes and I sure as hell don't want to bend or brake them. I also noticed that in my car the accumulator is mounted in the bracket behind the 4 pipes rather than at the top of the bracket and above the pipes like in the other cars that I've seen in the videos. Does this mean that Mercedes decided it would be a good idea to make it more difficult to change this item out? Am I going to have to remove all the pipes from the valve block in order to get the accumulator out? I really don't want to do any more disruption of what is there since, thus far, I have no seen any evidence of any leaks in the system. Removing all the lines from the valve block would mean having to reinstall them chancing a leak. I've attached photos of everything done thus far.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Joe
This is mine. Notice that the accumulator is behind all those pipes. You can also see the front of that lower attachment point with the rubber mount and the 10mm nut right between the pipes at the bottom.
Here you can see the rear rubber mount on the bottom bracket. It's a good 1.5" to 2" back from where it will be free of that metal channel that it rides in. There is no more give in the metal pipes, even with the rubber mount they are in being free.
This is the rubber mount that holds the 4 pipes for the system. It's held onto the car with a metal bracket that was attached to the car with a 10mm nut.

Has anyone every replaced this accumulator on a '08 car? How did you get the unit out of its location inside that area at the back of the car? On the '08 cars do you have to remove all the pipes from the valve block in order to take the accumulator off?

Hi everyone - New to me - 2008 SL55 AMG owner. One of the key fobs is broken in the chrome area. It wasn't working at all, but after a few battery checks, and removing some plastic debris that were in the way its fully functional with the keyless go.

I see some fobs online that I might be able to replace the electronics with - there seem to be some variants mine is a two battery version. What I don't know is it looks like the chrome part is embedded into the electronics with the two battery tray, Is this specific to keyless go or any other programming? I was hoping to just swap that part out and use the internal electronics if that's the programming part. Any ideas?

Thanks

Jesse

Hello,

Recently picked up an 04 SL55 w/ 50k miles. The car would drop overnight after several hours, starting in the front left corner and then the rear left would drop. The right side will stay up altogether no matter how long. I rebuilt the front valve block using the upgraded seals everyone speaks of, but now it seems that the pressure leak is worse. After shutting the car off, the front left corner is completely slammed down after only about an hour and the rear left follows shortly after. Is there something I could have missed while doing the rebuild? Or should I begin to look in other areas for the problem? I’m very confused. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

hi sorry if this has been discussed before but i figured i asked anyway my key fob didnt' work today it does NOT turn anymore and steering wheel is locked
all fuses seem to be good (if i am checking all three boxes)
batteries seem to be good but no action here at the ignition switch. Mercedes quoted $2000 for a new ignition switch and key fob is around $500.
is there a way to know for sure? anything you coyuld think of?
I have DAS! however ? i think you'd need the key in position to be able to scan? or is there a hack?

Hi. I've owned my SL350 for 20 years and apart from one or two minor issues it has been very reliable - up until now!
After about 5 minutes with the engine running the headlights give a quick flash resulting in a message on the dash. Also I get an occasional red battery warning which disappears after a couple of seconds and also other random warnings. I get one or two "malfunction memories" when turning the ignition off. All these warnings disappear when the ignition is turned off. The car starts and runs fine, the batteries are almost new.
The car is going in to a specialist in three weeks but any clues as to the problem would be a big help.
Thanks in advance.

I have a 2004 MB Sl500 with the Red Battery "Visit Work Shop" Icon. I made the mistake of not connecting the rear battery when I started the vehicle but instead of getting the consumers battery offline, I got the Visit Work Shop Icon. I immediately shut the vehicle and disconnected the negative terminal of the starter battery then reconnected that first before connecting the rear battery.
I erased the error code using xentry system but after I start the car for 30 seconds, the red icon returns and I am unable to erase the waring message. The vehicle runs great and the last fluids I have to change are the vario roof hydraulic fluid and the antifreeze.
I have checked the charging circuits, with the motor idling, of the Starter Battery and the Auxiliary Battery and both indicate charging the batteries at around 13.9 -14.2 volts.
I would like to replace the BCM with the one I read about on the forum from someone named "Brian and SL guys". I do not have a face book account, but I have a relative who does and would like contact information in order to purchase one of these modules.
Any help with this would greatly be appreciated.
Thank you.
