My 2006 E200 Kompressor has been showing some very weird behavior. Specifically:

1) When I turn the ignition on, sometimes no dashboard light comes on for 2-3 seconds. Then everything behaves normally. At other times, the car stays dead and I have to turn the key off or even remove it and retry before it starts behaving normally.
2) While driving, the car suddenly turns off. I then shift to neutral and turn the key off and then on. The engine then restarts allowing me to bring the car to a halt safely. This has happened 3-4 times over the past year.

The car drives well with no other problems. It has done over 160,000 km and has been properly maintained at home. I have DAS/Xentry software that shows no faults other than a stuck wiper motor once in a while. The wipers work just fine, however, and I am able to clear the fault code easily and resume my normal routine.

The random shutdown behavior is very worrisome. Any help in diagnosing the problem would be hugely appreciated.

Due to a fault in the differential of the W211, I replaced it with a different differential.

As the new differential does not come from the same, but a similar engine variant, the sensor system is now triggering an error message stating "gearbox slip" and the car is entering mechanical emergency mode.

This is a consequence of the fact that my differential gear ratio has now changed from the original 3.46 to 3.67 or 3.27.

I have used the Vediamo 4 to read the code string (SCN coding) of my EGS52 control unit.

Codestring (in decimal, Vediamo use this format):

I HAVE BEEN NOTICING THE ISSUE OF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT COMING ON INTERMITTENTLY.
THERE ARE TIMES WHEN IT COMES ON LISTING THOSE-
1. If my fuel level falls below the half level
2. If I park my car in sunlight switch it off and then switch it back on again the light comes ( It does not come on when its running)
3. If I park my car at an incline.
When I open my fuel cap with the car running keep it that way for a few minutes it the Check Engine Light Disappears.
I have scanned it using the OBD Scanner and I will attach that photo here.
I would appreciate the help

So recently, I got my 2005E5 104 Matic back into commission however I’ve been having a problem since I got this car basically the fuel gauge wouldn’t show unless it was fully filled but even then when it starts showing it will start going down super fast or just disappear completely I would get the fuel tank light when it’s low and even get notifications that it is low, but it will disappear slowly after that I’ve been seeing that it’s probably the fuel gauge center or something like that. Could anyone give me some pointers?

My 2004 S211 cargo cover has developed the dreaded 'machine-gun' noise when closing. When you close the tailgate and the luggage cover gets pulled down, it doesn't stop when it reaches the fully closed position, and the worm gear continues to run.

I've changed the reed switch in the passenger side runner and checked that the magnet is still in place in the end of the cargo cover lug.

When I test for continunity at the reed switch connector, it shows circuit closed (continuity) when the lug is at at the stop position in the runner. Moving the lug slightly up the runner shows open circuit (no continuity) - I take it this means the switch is working correctly?

If so, is there anything else I need to look at? Does it point to a faulty SAM module? I've got an iCarsoft code reader and there's no error codes for the rear SAM.

Any help/thoughts appreciated!

Edit: The noise i was hearing is not suspension related at all: check my post’s reply to see an update.

I bought this 2007 Mercedes E550 4MATIC with 103k miles 2 months ago.

After getting my tires changed, I parked the car for 16 days. When I went to drive it again, the rear-right corner was completely tucked into the wheel well while the other corners looked normal.

When I started the car, the rear-right raised somewhat but still sat lower than the rest. I also noticed a consistent high pitch hissing/squeal from the rear, much louder on the right side. Here is a video:

        You Tube

While underneath the car, it kind of sounded like it coming from the rear-right expansion tank area, but it’s hard to tell with all the engine/exhaust noise.

I drove it around and when on level ground, the rear-right came back up, and the rear-left lowered itself more than the right (I tried replicating the next day and the right stayed lower this time). The compressor keeps cycling in short bursts, especially on uneven surfaces. It seems like the system is continuously trying to correct height. It doesn’t just turn on to pressurize the system, I hear it releasing air too. It even cycles while driving slowly down a straight road. It stops cycling after the car is no longer moving.

So far I have:

Checked for leaks with soapy water around the rear bags/lines/fittings (no obvious bubbles). I need to go back with better spray bottle, because I couldn’t make heavy suds.

Checked rear sensor. The metal ***** are corroded and the plastic linkage requires pressure to move it. I plan on applying some lubricant to see if it helps at all.

Used a Foxwell 710 scan tool to manually test the compressor (passed), raised/lowered both rear corners, and turned on the component Y54/1y1 (Additional volume valve’s) on both sides, which made a buzzing sound.

What’s strange is:

During manual scan tool tests, both rear corners raise/lower quickly and I did not hear the hissing/squeal at all.

The hissing only happens when the engine itself is running

The noise stops immediately when the engine is turned off

I get no suspension related codes during scans. Before and after clearing codes and going on short drives. No dash lights, error messages, etc.

The only recent work besides the tires was a rear differential rebuild about a month ago from a reputable shop in Portland, OR. They did an inspection beforehand and said all suspension looked good, other than the front-right (it was slow to raise compared to the rest, but otherwise all good).

Any suggestions for next steps for diagnosis? Any input would be appreciated. I have done a lot of searching around, any “hissing” others seem to be referring to is the “pssh” noise the compressor makes when releasing air. Mine is nothing like that, it’s more like a squeal, and in the rear of the car.
