I recently bought a c300 4Matic from Carvana. Using mbdecoder and doing a little research I have listed codes 506 & 355 as included options. Build date 6/2018.

As many have no doubtedly asked, I'm in search of a way to activate my navigation. I have the big red navigation icon on the main screen, NAV1 as a toggle and also
Navigation in the driver info screen. However, when I access it says I need an SD card. There is none in the slot.

I can go to the dealer near me and ask but I thought I'd get the skinny here first.

I've looked all over Ebay and Amazon but can''t seem to find one compatible.

Carvana has been of little assistance BTW, any insight would be great!

Thanks to all that take the time to respond, I appreciate it!

I have a 2017 Mercedes-Benz C300 Coupe 4MATIC (W205/C205) and I’m trying to figure out the cleanest possible OEM CarPlay retrofit path.

Current setup:

Audio20 NTG5.0

factory screen

no CarPlay currently

USA car

premium audio

backup camera, etc.

I am NOT interested in:

MMI boxes

Android/Tesla screens

aftermarket overlay systems

I only want a true OEM Mercedes solution, even if it means replacing hardware.

From what I understand so far, my current NTG5.0 hardware likely cannot do native CarPlay with coding alone, so I’m looking into swapping to an OEM NTG5.5 (or possibly NTG5.2) head unit with Smartphone Integration support.

A few questions:

Has anyone successfully done a true OEM NTG5.5 retrofit on a pre-facelift 2017 W205/C205?

What exact head unit part numbers should I be looking for?

Is NTG5.2 sufficient for native OEM CarPlay, or should I go straight to NTG5.5?

Would I also need a new USB hub?

Any issues with VIN locking, SCN coding, Burmester/premium audio compatibility, or region compatibility?

Can the existing factory screen remain, or are there hidden compatibility issues there too?

Trying to avoid buying the wrong HU off eBay before understanding the correct OEM path.

Thanks.

but milage still below 35,000km. very low usage. love it

but it already 8 years old even though i only use it for 6 yrs. all the while service at merz center, only change engine oil/ filters. recently after warranty i change spark plug. the most expensive parts so far was replacing cooling coil. also fuel pressure pump. replace gear oil front and rear, and the v belt.

is there any more parts i shoukd be aware need to change like wear and tear of plastic component that need to replace because of aging etc
anyone can advice what part that i need to replace as car driven by missus. do not want to get sudden call when car stranded on the highway.😁

OttoCast AI Moveable Screen Option

I have the Audio 20 system with NTG 5.1 on our 2018 C300 Cabriolet. I wanted to add CarPlay because I am so used to using it. I was checking out a full main screen replacement, and found two I really liked - good quality. However, I was gun-shy on having my center dash taken out. It is tight with no squeaks now. I didn’t want to mess that up. I was also unsure on disturbing the OEM interior.

I came across this OttoCast AI based on reviews and AI inquiries for a “portable” screen. Then, after looking exhaustively at mounts, I found a CD player bracket mount —> this works great with our interior and that waterfall center dash. I bought the screen and bracket for $167 on Amazon. The bracket allows you to mount it “up” or “down” from the CD slot. Mine is mounted down.

After one week of use, I am very impressed with this unit for the cost. It is snappy and responsive. Android based, so you can drop any apps on it. Apple CarPlay works very nicely on it. And since it is Android based, I was able to do some personalized tweaking - boot up screen, background wallpaper, etc.. It now looks like it is OEM in many ways as I have a C300 that looks like ours as the boot up background, and the MB star as the background wallpaper.

Anyway, as a newer member, I thought this might interest others that like me wanted some tech upgrade, but didn’t want to mess with the OEM look of the interior, or risk futures rattles or squeaks by taking apart their dash. You can pop it in, or take it out in minutes. Plugs into your 12v cigarette lighter.

If interested in seeing it in action, let me know, and I will add a few videos. Otherwise, below are some pictures so you can see how it looks:
