I'm replacing the control module on my 2020 Pro, but I couldn't find a way to disconnect the two controls from the center board - it seems they are connected via the direct pin connector but seems to be hard wired.

Want to check with the forum and see if someone has done this before and knows how to disconnect them? That's the only way I would be able to slot the mount onto the steering wheel base...

As some of you may remember, after a year and a half of searching, test-driving cars all over Europe, doubts, questions here on the forum and second thoughts, I finally took the plunge and bought a stunning 2021 GTR in Selenite Gray Magno with just 5,200 km (3,500 miles) on the odometer.... What can I say, I’m over the moon!
I picked it up in its hometown (Stuttgart) and brought it back to its new home here in Italy (about 650 miles)

Random thoughts:
- Absolutely stunning looks! (But I already knew that, and it’s one of the reasons I decided to buy this car to replace my current TT-RS)
- I was a bit worried about comfort on the road, but all in all, it exceeded my expectations. The suspension is definitely on the firm side even in Comfort mode, but the seats aren’t as uncomfortable as I feared after reading some posts here on the forum
- The engine is seriously impressive (even though I’m coming from a car that goes 0-60 mph in 6.9 seconds), and even though it’s equipped with a GPF, the sound isn’t bad at all (though I still haven’t figured out if the sound really comes entirely from the engine, or if part of it is fake sound coming from the speakers)
- Fuel consumption: it guzzles gas like an aircraft carrier! :DA few things I unfortunately miss a bit compared to my 2020 TT-RS;

- The LED matrix headlights, first and foremost! The GTR’s headlights aren’t bad, but when driving at night, Audi’s matrix headlights have a significantly more powerful beam, both in terms of depth and width
- The brakes (steel system) don’t stand out for their initial bite (though it’s worth noting that my TT has 370 mm rotors, Ferodo Racing DS 2500 pads, braided steel lines, and Castrol SRF fluid, and it’s definitely about 150–200 kg lighter)
- The GTR’s seats lack the extendable section, which supports the lower thighs and greatly improves comfort on long trips (especially if you’re quite tall, as I am); I don’t understand how Mercedes could have overlooked this!
- The multimedia system (navigation in particular) is decidedly less intuitive than Audi’s, and also less functional (you can’t enter personal POIs, and the navigation voice sounds very unnatural and primitive), while the optional Burmeister audio system (though not the top-of-the-line model) has good clarity but, in my opinion, lacks a bit of power (and it’s also true that those leaning toward a GTR are probably more interested in the sound coming from the wonderful 3-outlet titanium system than in what comes out of the speakers).
- Last but not least, it doesn't seem possible to change the fuel consumption display (which is quite annoying to me) from liters per 100 km to km/l (the equivalent of your mpg)
The next step will be applying the PPF (Expel or Terminax—I still have to decide) to the front end (bumper, hood, side fenders, mirrors, windshield, roof), and maybe later, finishing the rest as well (man, buying this car has almost left me bankrupt :smash:) and then maybe finish the job by removing the GPF, installing a catted downpipe and ECU remapping just to harmonize everything.

There’s an annoying rattle on my driver side between the gauge cluster and windshield in my 2018 GT R.
It’s not audible in the engine bay and is only present during idle. Once the RPM’s climb, the noise goes away.
I removed the gauge cluster to check behind and I didn’t see anything that could be the culprit (there isn’t much back there).
Also worth noting, the rattle is present regardless if the climate control fan is on or off.
Anyone else have/had the same issue? I’ve attached a video of the sound.

Carbon Ceramics on 2016 GT-S

Just sharing some ongoing build results thus far...and specifically around the brakes, which I found hard to research/confirm.

Anyhow, I had already bought custom wheels, coil overs and other mods...then decided that I really wanted to upgrade to Carbon Ceramic brakes.

I did a lot of research here and via the web on carbon ceramic retrofit / upgrade options for the C190 AMG GT.

Per most of what I found, the consensus seemed to be that the bigger calipers and 402mm front rotors would possibly NOT fit under the stock 19" wheel offsets that came on the the AMG GT-S, with the 390mm steel brakes. It was hard to find definitive, solid info on fitment here and on the web. The local Mercedes dealerships, were little to no help (no surprise).

I can attest that this is not the case. They not only fit under my new 19" wheels but low and behold, they also fit under the stock 19" wheels/offsets too. I was sweatin' it until we test fit and all was good.

I attached a video that shows how close they are on the 19" wheels I had made. Hope this might help someone else. If you have questions, lmk.

Custom Wheel are:
19x9.5 ET50
20x11.5 ET58

TIres:
Michelin PS4S
275/35/19
315/30/20

Lowered on Weistec coil over kit.

Fitment looks close enough to perfect (for what I wanted) and the brake clearance is no problem. Stoked about this upgrade!

PS: More to come,...

I had my oil warning light come on recently. After driving for a couple of minutes. Dropped it off at dealership this morning. After analysis they told me the oil separator is leaking. Never heard of "oil separartors" before so not sure what they actually do. Service advisor said he has seen this issue before but isn't very common. I have 31k miles on it and have driven it pretty lightly (no tracking). To fix quoted $2700 which includes 8 hours of labor. Apparently it is challenging to access to fix. Anyone else familiar with this issue? And know if that is a "reasonable" quote to have fixed?

Hello,

I’ve been in the market for an amg gt, but not sure which model would be best for me. The main thing I’m looking for is comfort as I’m hoping to use it as my daily. I read the GTC is actually the most comfortable to drive even though it has higher performance than the base model? I’m in la and my commute is mainly just to the gym and grabbing food as i work from home, and I have another car for if I need more space. So performance does not matter to me much, they’re both fast to me. Also can the pre-facelift headlights be put onto the 2020+? I think I prefer the look of the old ones.

Hello everyone,
as I’ve already mentioned elsewhere, after over a year and a half of searching, viewing cars across Europe  , asking questions on this forum (thanks!), wavering and having second thoughts, I’ve finally found a GTR just as I wanted it (facelift model, matt Selenite Grey, very low mileage) except maybe for the CCB... however next week I should finally be going to collect it!
In this regard, I have a few scattered questions for which I feel it’s pointless to open separate threads, so I’ve decided to bundle them all here:

1) Is it possible to permanently disable the start-stop system, and if so, how? (coding? add-on module?)

2) Does the GTR restyle Command system (NTG 5.5 I believe) allow you to upload personal POIs?

3) Is the cabin protection net (option code U40 – “A partition net mounted between the seats and the boot to prevent objects from sliding uncontrollably towards the passengers, for example during sudden braking”) worth using? Does anyone here have/use it?

4) Are there 4 rings in the trunk for securing a cargo net?

5) Is the rear star on the boot available in black? (I’m not keen on chrome, especially on grey...)
