I have a 2017 GLS63 AMG that I love but I've been having issues lately with the rims cracking. It has 22" wheels on it now, but I've been told that the cracking issues I'm having is because the large wheels have a small profile tire that doesn't give enough cushion. I have someone that has been able to repair them whenever they've cracked thus far, but it's been happening more frequently and on all of the wheels. I don't want to deal with it anymore. My wife took it on a short, 8 hour, trip last month and it happened to crack along her drive so that the tire was losing air quickly when she got there. Luckily, I was able to find someone that could repair it where she went and she got back fine but it's not a good feeling to not be with her when that happens. I would love to go with a smaller rim size but I've talked to a few different dealers that told me there's no way to know if the wheels I get will fit without actually trying them on because of the large brake/rotors on the AMG.

Does anyone have any experience with this and could help me find something? I would love to NOT have to get OEM wheels as I don't want to spend a crazy amount on them. I found some online that say they would fit my car but they are Type 166 while mine are Type 292. I don't have any clue what that all means. I just want something I won't have to worry about.

Long time reader - first time poster - thanks in advance for the advice!

Context: 2017 GLS 550 w/ ~80k miles. I carelessly hit a curb recently with my front right tire... wasn't going fast, but hit it square & it was a decent thud. After, I noticed a vibration whenever I got up to 30 mph that goes away at 35 mph. It then comes back much more intensely anytime I go over ~65 mph. However, the intensity of the 'wobble' fluctuates (when over 65 mph) depending on whether I'm on the gas, coasting, etc., which made me think it wasn't just a bent rim.

Dealer visit #1: told them what happened & symptoms - rep said he was 99% sure it's a bent rim. Calls me back two hours later... "ohhh it's just a tire bubble, we'll get you a new tire, and you'll be good." Didn't sound right to me, so I asked him to rotate the wheels when they did the alignment to help me isolate the issue if it wasn't resolved. As you'd expect... as soon as I drove away and got up to 30 mph... the same vibration occurred in the front right...

A good laugh.. three weeks later, I find the back right wheel (rim that originally hit the curb & new tire) completely flat with a big crack on the inside of the rim... not sure if they actually inspected the rim at all during the first visit.

Dealer visit #2: I'm obviously annoyed at this point... need a new rim & I beg them to test drive the car & actually inspect the front right end. They call back & say any vibration is just caused by the car being out of alignment (they did the alignment three weeks earlier). So a new rim, another alignment, and the same vibration that is practically making the car impossible to drive on the highway.

My ask: any advice on what specifically in the GLS front-end/wheel assembly could be causing this speed-related wobble/vibration? Based on my research, some of the symptoms match a bent driveshaft, but I figured that would cause vibration throughout the spine of the car (not just the front right) and is unlikely from a curb hit... but I've been wrong before.

Anyhow, appreciate the insight!

Hi All, My E350d rear driver's side suspension was losing air quite quickly intermittently but always holding up when running. I decided to replace the airbag. After replacing it the new one wouldn't fill, everything was positioned and connected correctly and the car displayed the 'vehicle rising' message that I had seen numerous times but it wasn't moving.
When I tried to fill it manually (Rear Right) with my iCarsoft 3.0 it went up to 27 bar I believe but still no movement, I tried this twice but afterwards the fuse for the compressor blew. I have ordered a couple of new fuses but wondering what the problem could be?

I have factory Turanza RFT tires with 13k miles (3 ½ years). I had a flat repaired on front passenger side and the outside tread is almost bald while the inside tread is average. On the driver’s side outside tread wearing much faster than inside. Rear tires, the issue is reversed: outside tread looks almost new while the inside tread is wearing. I have decided to replace all 4 with non-RFT since I can’t mix/match. I will keep the car 2 more years ( 7k more miles) so not crazy worried about protecting new tires. Car drives fine, no pulling. It is obvious I need an alignment right? If so, can I use any major alignment chain (nearby Discount Tire offers alignment) or should I got to Dealer? I think dealer charges around $250.

Any info/advice appreciated.
