I bought these before when they were pretty much the only option.

Haven't run them. Long tubes are well insulated.

Wont be dragging but just an occasional DD with more power.

I could change then but I may even put oem on.

But don't want to deal with changing if it's just a problem when people are driving with immense heat (the stories about them melting the urethane)

any advice?

My A/C isn't as cold as it should be.The compressor is original and I am going to replace it. I would like to use an OEM compressor and it seems there are a couple that are listed.
I also read there is a low compressor hose which collapses so I may as well replace that while I'm doing the job. Anyone have the part # or know which hose that is?
As far as the compressor I've read the Denso units may aren't that great? Any recommendations?

Thanks in advance.

I am posting this inn case it will help someone else avoid the frustration of this problem. My daughter's 2005 E320 started running very rough a couple hours from home, then it was crank no start. All I have for scanning is a Foxwell NT530, and the initial scan showed misfire in cylinder 1. Since I had a couple extra coils with me, I changed cylinder 1 coil. Still crank no start. Hoping to fix it in the parking lot, I went to a local parts store and bought a generic crankshaft position sensor and installed it. Still crank no start. I swapped the fuel pump relay, tested the fuse but still crank no start. I opened up the fuel level sensor to test for voltage, but the slightest pressure snapped off the twenty-year-old plastic nub from the sender to the fuel line. At that point I had it towed home.

After getting it home I ordered and replaced the sender, assuming the car knew the sensor wasn't German, I purchased and installed a Bosch crankshaft position sensor. Still crank no start. Testing the crankshaft signal at the ECU when cranking, I had the appropriate range of voltage (this car still has the two-wire inductive sensor rather then the three wire hall effect sensor), and neither wire show signs of a short, but I thought perhaps the existing wires were degraded, and the signal was not good, so I ran a new pair of wires from the CPS pigtail to the ECU. Still crank no start. I tested the voltage at the sender unit when cranking now and I was getting 12 volts, and replacing the relay with a jumper didn't activate the fuel pump, so I replaced the fuel pump. Still crank no start. I was watching a great diagnostic Youtube channel from DiagnoseDan, and I saw a video where he diagnosed a Peugeot CPS to have the polarity reversed. I thought there is nearly a zero percent chance that a Bosch CPS that is used in thousands of W211 vehicles would have the polarity reversed, but since I spliced a new CPS wire, it was simple to snip, swap and test, and the car started right up. I am still not 100% sure whether the Bosch part is correct, since I ordered it on Amazon, but neither the Bosch CPS nor the generic CPS worked, so I think there was some change in polarity between this W211.

Hi All, my the hood on my 2004 e55 is stuck. The driver side latch won't release. The cable has been on its way out and I was going to replace it this weekend, but it's now the cable has completely failed. I've seen some people get to the latch from under the car on the passenger side, but can't find any tips for driver's side. It looks like the latch release is inside the mechanism, so I can't just release it by sticking a long screwdriver in the gap of the hood. I've tried this for an hour last night. Does anyone have tips for this? I might willing to rip out my aftermarket grill as the next step...I've already scratched it all up now....:duh: Thanks all!

So managed to do twenty valve seals but bank one exhaust is a no go. I cannot get to them with the Lisle tool - which is great btw - but you need to give it a good wack - no way you pushing these valves down.

Now cannot access the exhaust valves using this tool and using a leverage arm style to try and unseat the keepers but with 8bar cyl pressure not enough to break them away. I beat on it as much as I dare - wiggled it - a LITTLE heat, penetrating oil etc … rope inside cyl … no dice. Somehow bank 2 was way easier 🤷‍♂️

So any bright ideas on how to get around this?

Old valve seals were pretty hard fwiw - and cannot let these 4 valves get a bye.

TIA

It looks like two of the screw holes on the new pump are missing threads, its smooth. See yellow circles in the pic. In the old water pump that came out the holes were threaded. See the close up pics of the two holes in the old water pump that came out. Did this change for some reason? I have a 2004 e55. I emailed FCP, but its the weekend. Has anyone come across this?

sorry im not sure how to make resize the pictures

Went to change a high beam bulb & noticed what looked to be a piece of bare wire in the headlight housing. After further inspection it looks like both wires running to the high beam build either melted the sleeves off or the wires got old & brittle from heat cycling & just fell off.
Anyone else seen this before?

Looking for the torque of the timing chain guiderail locating pins that bolt to the crankcase. Ive searched WIS back and forth and I've found the guiderail pulley (the bolt that left hand threaded and thats 58Nm). WIS has "Bolts, top of Guiderail" - quite obscure description - and has 20Nm - sounds reasonable for an M8.

Just not sure though anyone put me out of my misery?
