REAR-PARKTRONIC ON A 2003-G- ?? is it a problem when off road?
I considering waiting for a G-500 with parktronic, I know its great for the city "I live in chicago", but am concerned it will go off like crazy when driving off road. Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks

Your right, I quess I wasn't thinking when I considered it. I'm most likely going to buy one without, and have it delivered next week. I don't want to wait 3 to 6 months.
Thanks

rear Park assist
they won't call it Parktronic because it will only be rear. MB calls this variation "park assist". In the current form there is a button to turn it off. This will probably still be the case. In any event, with rearward facing perception only, it will only alarm if you are about to back into something, or if somethings passes in back of you.

Also, if the trailer electrical plug is connected to a trailer, the Parktronic is deactivated.

I decided to go without park assist or harmon kardon!
I decided not to wait 6 months, so my black on black will be delivered a week from Monday at the latest. I'm not concerned about the park assist, and feel the stock stereo is great as it is. I would rather put the $ into a few assessories. I'll post an image and let you know how much I love it!!

so if you get the parktronic it is only in the back, that might be true, but reverse would be right, also, if you are going over 9 mph, it wont work, i think that is how it works, i know in all mbz that is how it works, but you can turn it off also

Off Road
I've been on vacation doing a lot of off roading in Colorado and Utah. Yesterday the Parktronic helped me twice. Once it warned me about a 6" rock and the other time about a 12-14" bush - neither of which I had seen. It did not warn me about the 1000 ft drop off that I almost backed over, though.
One of the other guys in our group told me that his Parktronic did save him from some major damage a couple of times. As someone said on another forum recently: if it saves you from one reapir job, it's paid for itself.
