hitch & Europa Int'l
Anybody have any experience with this Santa Fe , New Mexico outfit, Europe Int'l & G.Wagen (www.europaautos.com)? I'd like to add a trailer hitch to my 2003 G500 but my dealer is discouraging me. The guy at Europa Int'l sent me a photo of this hitch and said they have sold/installed 2500 of them. The hitch is a Class V for 7200 lbs and is a bolt on to the frame. If anyone wants the photo just email me at hafmam@aol.com. Anyone know of another company that sells aftermarket stuff for the W463?

Europa's Hitch
I have one on my 2000 G500, and it's great. The 2002's and 2003's are slightly different in their electronics than earlier models; so I would ask Europa about the trailer electrical plug wiring to see if it is OK on a 2003.
Europa also sells a lot of aftermarket stuff, and is probably the best in the USA - better than any MBUSA dealer. They've been in the G business for about 20 years; and know these trucks better than anyone else in the US.
ORC in Germany probably has the largest selection of all. Their URL is:
www.orc.de
They ship to the US, but they are dam*ed expensive.

Thanks for the info. I will check about the plug hookup.
Since these guys are in New Mexico I suspect they are the same ones who had the rights to bring the G's into the US for modification before the lawsuit with MB.
If I may ask, what do you use your hitch for? Boats, etc ?
Thanks again.

FWIW, there was no lawsuit.
Europa had tacit permission from MBAG/DBAG to import the MB Geländewagen into the US and had exclusive rights to do so when it came to new trucks.
MBUSA/DCAG paid Europa a lot of money to buy back that exclusive distributorship so that MBUSA could import the G.
Currently, MBUSA dealers across the US are constantly calling Europa for help with G problems that they can't figure out and MBUSA's tech center can't either. They have a deep and extensive knowledge of the MB Geländewagen that nobody else in the US has.
I use my G500 to pull a 2000 lb off road camper. See the photo.

Dutch:
Thanks again and it's a great looking rig you have there.
Something was missing in the translation but my MB salesman told me many moons ago that the NM group took MB to court because MB tried to shut them off.
Either way I'm glad it was successfully settled becaue this truck is a trip. The pickup is unbelieveable. I've had friends test drive it and they walk away VERY impressed.
Just wish I could find someone to make flyrod holders for me.

MBUSA salesmen are saying lots of strange things about Europa. Probably a case of ***** envy. While the average MBUSA salesman may get to sell one G a year, the guys at Europa sell dozens. When it comes to the G, Europa is hands down ahead of any and all of the MBUSA dealers.

Thx Dutch. All I need is the hook though that bolts on with four screws. That's it. I'm sure that huge piece of metal gwagenaccessories provides is more than what I need... Did email him though and I'll see how it goes!

Karl only has that huge set up for those who don't have the plate on which the German hook (OEM set up) just bolts on, as in my case.. All I need is the German hook and the 4 bolts. Would really appreciate if someone who doesn't need theirs to sell it to me...
Cheers
