22" or 24" rims?

Hi-I am new to the Forum but have learned a great deal from reading some of the posts. Recently got a 2004 G55 that I am in the process of upgrading (bumpers, mirrors, seats etc.). I have been meaning to get 24" rims but have read that these are too heavy for the truck and can reduce performance and mileage. Can anyone share some experiences or advice? Thanks.

I just threw some 22" Vossen VFS1's on my 2017 G550. Ride is slightly more bumpy but no issues with performance. It may actually take corners slightly better (not that it ever was good at taking corners) as I had to have spacers installed to fit the wheels. Because of the spacers, the stance is 0.50" wider than stock, 0.25" per wheel.

I can't speak for 24's, but I'm guessing the ride will be much different as the amount of rubber between you and the road will be significantly reduced.

24 is big

I looked at 22" rims but ended up with AMG 20" rims. One reason was to keep the right essentially the same, and the other was to keep the speedo accurate. I've heard you can adjust the speedometer, but with 20" instead of 18, and the tire size making up essentially the difference, it's almost moot.

24 will need spacers and like another commenter said, the right will have very little rubber between you and the road.

Do you still have your G550 wheels? I'm trying to swap out the 20''s on my '17 G63 for some 19"s.

Do you want the chrome brush guard off of my '17 G63? It has 600mi on it.
