Our G63 was on a ship as of the first week of September and we were told November delivery most likely. The G550s supposedly have started delivery or will soon.

Agreed. Mercedes did a really poor job launching this car in the US.

Nope.

Dealers just did a terrible job (as usual) at over promising and under delivering.

New Model G's always come out OCT-DEC.

Also, whenever a completely new model is launched, it is always delayed at the port awaiting certification from CDOT.

This isn't an MBUSA problem, just the dealers problem.

I also have an S Cab sitting in port since July.

MBUSA should be escalating the issue with customs.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that "escalating" with customs is a great way to get things delayed even more.

These are cars, people. Really nice cars, but cars. Compared to earthquakes, tsunamis, natural gas explosions (look up what happened in the Andover / Lawrence Massachusetts area if you haven't heard - those folks are going to be without natural gas service till mid November), and other disasters, a car delivery getting delayed a bit is quite frankly a laughable matter. And as @NYCBenz said, new G's usually come out late in the year anyway, so there really isn't a big delay in the normal cycle anyway. Just chill out and we'll all get our new toys in due time.

It sounds like mine, especially if I go with a G63 again, is probably going to be quite a wait as I've been sitting on the fence debating between keeping my 2017 for a while or upgrading. In the meantime, I'll enjoy my 2017 G63.

Does the dealer determine MSRP?

MSRP = Manufacturer's SUGGESTED Retail Price. So MBUSA/DAIMLER suggest what the car should cost new.

Dealers have the option to sell for whatever a person wants to pay, which could be substantially over MSRP, or substantially under MSRP.

There isn't a "problem" to begin with. The new G was promised in the Fall which is now. That could me anytime during that time frame. People here act like cars are just supposed to appear when they think they should be there and launch when they think they should launch. I've never see anything like it. People here create a "problem" of what is a normal practice year and year out and then cry endlessly about it. And actually it is MBUSA and the home office that works on certification, the dealership has 0 to do with certifying vehicles.

Correct, that's basically what I said above...

The main reason why people create the problem, is that the Dealer they put a deposit on a build for the New G over promised what production slot they were getting/delivery date/etc...the dealer wants your deposit so you don't go anywhere else. People (here, and the usual customer honestly) have no idea what the real answers are to their questions because the Dealer keeps stringing them along, hoping to keep their deposit and not have to refund it if the customer finds an earlier build.

MBUSA/DAIMLER are at the mercy of the US Department of Transportation when they want to release a New Model, nothing they can do to speed up the process.

The key is to find a good dealer, and a better salesperson. I used to be that better salesperson, who worked for the best dealer, so I am well informed of the process ; )

Mine is sitting at the VPC, so I have no problems in that respect. My issue is the lack of pricing guidance (on the 63) and as long as the deal closes before year end for tax purposes. I have to side with my dealer, as I got one of the earliest slots possible. An actual build with a VIN assigned. Whatever their inventory computer or order hotline is called doesn't give much info. Realistically, it is the tail end of the wait period so all is well. It is more curiosity for me what MB does with the 63 MSRP.

You should probably wait until MBUSA escalates it to customs first.

That word is "standard MF" for Standard Money Factor "rate" , that's weird, looks like the word standard got changed on the "quote" tab.

My question is what does 2 + 1 + 1 mean?
