G63 Edition one Exclusivity

I’m wondering how exclusive is Edition 1. I placed an order for G63 selenite grey yet the dealer converted that to Edition 1 and asking above MSRP now. They don’t really know if they’d ever get regular G63 allocation within next year.

Edition 1 is a little bit overstated configuration for me, with all those red accents plus magno paint’s maintenance if there’s scratch etc, is tough. My concern is that since it comes in one configuration only, it’ll be very common to see here in the Bay Area or California in general. But if it’s limited run, exclusive only (I heard it’s one per dealership) then it’s be a bit attractive proposition.

Any input and thoughts on exclusivity would be greatly appreciated.

I think they can make Edition 1’s the entire first model year of production. They are certainly recognizable, but my G550 with the base leather and red stitching delete will be rarer, but recognized by no one. :D

My take is that if it isn't what you want, then don't accept the change to the order. I agree with your assessment that the Edition 1 is a bit much with all the red accents; I really don't care if I've got the only one or picked a popular color combo. It's going to be your car that you're going to have to live with and it's your money, so make sure you get the color and option configuration that YOU want not some combo the dealer decided on.

I've had a couple of experiences with launch edition Porsches. Even though claimed to be "limited" production models their value wasn't much different when it came time to sell or trade them. I suppose there is some uniqueness to these models but that does not seem to translate into value over time. If you are contemplating doing business with a dealer who is going to mark the price up over MSRP....run fast and far. This practice is a reflection of price gouging and the type of service and pricing you can expect in the future. Not a good way to build trust and a mutually beneficial relationship. Find a more reputable dealer.

Thank you for all the good feedback. I think its enough to sway me away from this dealer and the vehicle that I don't really want - although, I'd now have to wait a lot longer :(
