2014 ML63 2015 G550 2016 G550 & (2) 2019 G550s
Here's a set of GEOLANDAR A/T G015 Yokohama Tire Corporation I put on our 2015 G550 (18" wheel). Really smooth ride, almost like a passenger tire. The tread is not as aggressive as a say BFG KO2, but sometimes one doesn't want that "mudder' look if you are going for a more refined look for your Gwag.

Thx for sharing - leaning toward the nitros but can’t seem to find confirmation on how they perform on ice and snow - i’m In upstate NY and we get plenty of both for months on end ...

They are EXCEPTIONAL in the snow. I have had them on several rides all over the country.

I finally installed some "real" tires on my G550. I had narrowed my choice Between the Yokohama Geolandar G015 and Falken Wildpeak AT3W. The more agressive AT3W won out, in 275/55r20 117T XL. This size is the "safe" choice given the differences in tire specifications, when you move to a LT tire, like the 285/55r20. In 275/55r20, the AT3W has a 6 ply sidewall, which is better than most p/e tires, which are 2ply. They have a 117 load range vs. the 113 for the stock tires and have a T speed rating (up to118mph). I will let you all know how they perform, as I drive more. Here are some pics.

Thank you! The Nitto's will definitely look phenomenal! The more agressive tires really transform the look. I look forward to the pics...

Looks great! Are you going to sell the original tires? I replaced mine, as well, not sure where to list the originals. They are part of the night edition package.

My new NITTO’s on my truck. Sorry for the dirt - middle of winter here in upstate NY and plenty of slush makes it impossible to keep it clean. The spare did not fit in the cover (not even close) - kept the stock spare tire in there to keep the look and storing the Nitto spare in case I need it.

I think all we need is a 1-1.5 inch polyurethane spring spacer with extended bump stops so we can all run 285/55/20 and maintain enough room to avoid rubbing off road under compression/extension.

Everyone is using springs for added height then complaining about excess bounce or swaying at highway speeds.

With the spring spacers we can maintain factory springs and ride.

Wish someone would manufacture them!! Safest way in my opinion to lift a G

Any update from you guys running 285/55/20’s?

Any rubbing on on full lock while traversing a speed bump or sharp incline/decline or while fully laden?

/bump I’m curious as well. Was told by my dealer today that nitto ridge grapplers 285/55/r20 will definitely rub and that I needed to stay under 32 e.g. get the 285/50’s. Thoughts? 2020 G550.

2019 G550

Watch at about the 31:45 mark (great video worth watching in entirety).

If you want to maintain this capability Offroad you really can’t go above 285/50/20. The reason i think 285/50/20 would work Offroad is because this roughly equals the wheel size on the 22inch rim G63s.

To go larger and still be a use the G as originally intended you’d need to lift it. Given the poor experience on lifted springs for the 19’G per sample of 1 on this forum an easier option that would have minimal effect on ride quality would be a 30mm spring spacer.

This would provide a roughly 1.5 inch lift, minimal change in ride quality and should allow driver full articulation with 285/55/20s

They are made for the 18’ G but currently are not made for the 19’G. If the suspension springs are the same diameter as the 18’G, we may be able to try them on the current G.

all we need is someone to measure their spring diameters and cross reference them with 18’G spring spacers at dealers online.

Perfect answer - thank you! TLDR; they rub if you use the G for what it was built for. :-) Awesome video - thank you!

Thank you for the reply but didn’t you say the tires ripped the inside of your fender well without additional spacers on a post a while back?

Tires did rip off a couple of the fins (with spacers) removed spacers and all is well. It's my understanding the spacers that came with rims

were intended for the G550 4X4 squared.

Built 2008 G55 & one big 80 Series LandCruiser !
305's clear perfectly on my 63 with a 31mm spacer if using stock rims, and adding in a 30 or 40mm coil spacer for the light lift - I hit several light trails in Moab and Telluride even before the spacer and had no rubbing, but now it's perfect with a bit more lift and wider stance with new rims...( obviously the wider flares on a 63 may factor in...)

They are the Stock 20 from Mercedes. This tires really help them pop. They look much better.
