2019 G63 Stay Away from Fletcher Jones -

Hey Everyone,

I realize that SoCal is probably the very reason Adjusted Dealer Mark-Ups even exist...so take my opinions accordingly....In my opinion, if you buy a car from any Fletcher Jones Dealership(Mercedes/Porsche/Audi), you are part of the problem of creating dishonest, reprehensible sales tactics....basically empowering the whole "sleazy car salesperson" model...I received numerous written communications from several Sales People at Fletcher Jones bragging about getting an extra $30K over MSRP on 2019 g550 and G63's...how Mercedes allows its' largest Sales Representative of its' brand perform these antics is disappointing....Mercedes could end this sales tactic overnight...if it wanted to...

The only way it will change is if people decide to buy elsewhere...Don't do business with Fletcher Jones...they are bad business people and horrible community partners....

Porsche made a step in the right direction by releasing the GT3 touring....basically destroyed inflated 911R values...Porsche isn't perfect...but Mercedes needs to end this practice---

Cheers

Don't know about them but I won't patronize any dealer selling over retail. Here in Colorado MB Littleton has/had (not sure if still there) a 2019 G550. I went to see it and would have bought that day until I was told about the markup over retail. The salesman was nice enough and it was obviously out of his control but I left and ordered one at retail from MB Westminster.

This is Dealer Policy not sales people. On top of that is customers fault because some are OK to pay the mark up. I personally know a ED1 customer who was charged just MSRP ( not in CA) so it can be done if you deal with the right dealer

I've leased two cars from Newport Beach location, and I haven't gone back since and I never will. Really dishonest people

I know it's the customers faults ultimately as if they keep paying over retail, why would the dealers stop pricing them that way. Still though, I'm a loyal repeat buyer and I told the dealer in Westminster my philosophy about paying over retail (I never pay retail as it is until now) and that I'd buy now at retail and then buy again, which I will. As they say, it's not like they stopped making these!

Mercedes-Benz has very little control over what dealers do as far as pricing. This is a very old gripe and the manufacturers are pretty much out of it when it comes to what the dealer actually sells the vehicle for.

I agree wiith Germancar1, not sure how MB can control it and car dealers being less than honest isn't a rare occurance. That's why I go out of my way to find good ones and stick with them.

"Manufacturer Suggested Retail Pricing".

Not happy with the price, go somewhere else.

Pretty simple, honestly.

We tried two times dealing with Fletcher Jones. AWFUL!!!!!!

Beverly Hills Mercedes is our fav for new purchases. House of Imports was great too. Keyes has one of the largest inventories in the USA, but if you get a "bad or pushy" sales Rep...it is not a fun experience there!

Our fav Service Centers are Encino Mercedes and Silver Star (MB of Thousand Oaks).

you are right...very old gripe...just frustrating to see brands not value their customers....but actually the manufacturer can control pricing...when the manufacturer is made aware of Adjusted Stickers...they simply do not send the vehicles or severely limit supply or reward dealers with professional sales models with extra allocations....very easy to control---Cheers

G-Class
It is kinda given that there will be a markup on 2019 version of G-class. I am certainly not one to contribute but I dont judge those who pay the markup. We all value time and money differently.

You can not blame the dealership for charging the markup either. Every single business must maximize their profits. If there is a willing buyer that pays extra 30K, why would the dealership sell you at MSRP?

Certainly if most people refused to pay over MSRP than dealerships would had no choice but to sell at MSRP. However, when there is a new item, some people are willing to pay up more than others just to have it first.

I personally will wait until the market cools down and pay below MSRP or at MSRP. I never paid over MSRP and probably never will since I am willing to wait few months.

Nope, they really can't. If that was the case this practice would have been snuffed out long time ago. The same dealers have been doing it for many years so that tells you right there that this simply isn't the case. When you start limiting allocations to dealers that sell in big volume you will have a lawsuit in a heartbeat.

OP, you wisely prefaced your post with the fact this is happening in SoCal. SoCal has a high concentration of lots of things, both good and bad.

I personally don't hold MB accountable. I hold the chumps paying that accountable.

Stay firm because even today you can get one at MSRP. And if you can't, be very happy you aren't the vapid soul paying 50k over

I’ve bought over 20 MB 12 which have been AMG’s at Fletcher Jones. Never have I paid over window even on hard to get AMG’s. By developing a business relationship they reward loyalty like most business. If you walk in and get greeted by the next up sales person and want to buy the hottest model remember the smart guys already ordered their G wagon at window or better. On one model I passed on they sold over window to a guy that showed up and had to have it. So don’t be the dummy showing up with your dxxk in your hand complaining that the dealer is gouging you.

The huge advantage at Fletcher is they get more of the hard to get models than anybody. If you do your homework and spend $2000 on a fully refundable deposit you won’t be a blaiming the dealer you’ll be at the head of the queue.

Apparently according to their website they have 9 AMG's in stock. Guess no one wants G550's in L.A. As I said, I'm a proponent of a free market but I won't pay over retail myself. Just a principal thing for me, don't want it that bad. But if someone does and is willing to pay it, more power to them. Being new to G Wagons I just didn't know how common this was. Question, is there a limited number of G Wagons MB produces?

I ordered my 2019 g63 at msrp 6 months ago without a deposit...built Jan28th, 2019--- delivery in 4-6 weeks @ MSRP. Maybe I have a better relationship with my dealer of choice...Why do business with people that find satisfaction about taking advantage of people in a business transaction? There are options to Fletcher...any trip to that dealership is a reminder that the car sales industry is still "the" place for people to work that like taking advantage of everyone and serving their own needs to excess...I have trusted business partners in legal, financial, and medical among others...choosing trusted partners is important to me.
Cheers

im cool with dealer markups. this car is for someone who has researched it and ordered it at msrp. the others spec'd by the dealer - well they are entitled to sell to whoever is willing to pay the price. my dealer told me the person who ordered the edition one changed there mind, so somoene else came in and saw it.... and paid 25k over sticker without hesitation. i came the same day and left with my G that i ordered at $500 under MSRP

A good sign we are near the top is when people start creating MBWorld accounts to buy or sell a vehicle at over MSRP.
