MBUX in MY2020 G!

So, if MB is now offering MBUX and touch screen in their ultra cheapie (but excellent!) Sprinter van line, I'm startin' to feel increasingly optimistic that the MY2020 G63 will also upgrade to MBUX with touch screen. For those of us who ordered our G63's too late (e.g., Oct 2018), we may have the last laugh. It's called MBUX, baby! I din't even mention wireless charging. Fingers crossed...

Make trips more enjoyable with The new Sprinter's multitude of sophisticated MBUX infotainment optional features, including 7" and 10.25" touchscreens, wireless charging, Apple CarPlay/Android Auto, and Sirius Satellite Radio. The MBUX touchscreen offers users unprecedented control and easy to use features that will make a day on the job anything but boring.

I hope this is true, thinking about pushing my 2019 back and waiting for a 2020 if this change is confirmed.

JetRanger 02-06-2019 05:16 PM

If my G63 arrives as a MY2019 with the oh, so long in the tooth CS, or if they implement MBUX with TS in MY2020, so be it. I will be a happy camper, either way!

What is this MBUX and how is it different from the current system?

I’d give it a year or two to stabilize and remove glitches...I’ve lived it with range rovers- hate to be guinea pig

Wow, that MBUX is pretty slick. I'm old, so I don't see a huge difference between what is currently there, but the youth probably does

Eagles Nest 02-09-2019 09:46 PM

MBUX will not appear in G until 4-5 year facelift.

I'm not old but agree :) Currently my cars do everything I need them to. Not interested on reading restaurant reviews on my dash or surfing the web.

Could you let us know the data source for this?

kinda makes sense, as g wagon is the last model to adopt the current configuration

That's not true. All of MB's lineup should be moved to the new system, facelift or not, by 2021.

Wassaby 02-12-2019 12:43 PM

MBUX will be available in 2-3 years for the G. Never a model adopted a new interface after a year. MBUX require a lot of technical changes, and their are also limited by the screen supplier. Remember the shortage of LED 12.3 screen when first came out for the E-class. With the all new GLE, GLS, GLB, EQC that have MBUX i see no reason for G upgrade until 2022 production model. Just saying with my 14 MB experience

I love how the touch pad looks, but I am not very interested i a touch screen. I find it impossible to use while driving, I hit a bump and find that I hit 7 wrong buttons and the music is turned up to an 11. Its great you can use all the other inputs to control it (no touch screen fat fingering). I would not wait to chase the technology. It's cool, but 3 years behind it will be the next thing.

I’ve just been reading an article re the launch in India of the diesel variant and they say it has MBUX and HUD ???? ... I think anybody who’s ordered/ spoke to dealers have all been told an absolute bunch of rubbish at some point re these cars.
Here it is...

Yeah, I think the article is wrong.

1. There's no space on the dash for a HUD
2. The HVAC is currently 3-zone. It'd take a ton of rework to make it 4.
3. Unlikely MBUX gets added mid model year (then again, so was a mid year price change...)

Guessing someone copy/pasted from something on a GLE or GLS ;)

Festertester 02-06-2020 10:39 AM

Yes these sites copy and paste stuff- it’s not official from MB...

Bexlee 02-06-2020 11:30 AM

I absolutely agree with both of you :)

Come June we will know if it makes it into the 2021 model...50/50 chance in my book.

montreal red 02-06-2020 01:55 PM

i have a 2020 G550. produced in Dec 2019. no MBUX. i doubt there'll be a mid year change at this point. probably have to wait till 2021 model year.

50 bucks says it doesn't. I'd be surprised if it makes it in by 2022 or 2023.
