Keyless Go for Start ONLY???

You have to open the car using the fob? Please tell me that isn’t so...

Sarlox 02-11-2019 12:33 AM

Ok, it isn't so............

Festertester 02-11-2019 01:05 AM

Yes correct. It’s 2019 but I guess in order to keep last gen door handles, they couldn’t figure out how to make it fobless entry ...

Confirming - no keyless entry :-(

Range Rover did this with the 2010-2012 Full Size RR facelift. Push start/stop button in the car, but you had to use the fob to Lock/Unlock the doors and rear hatch. My 2011 Full Size Range Rover Supercharged remains in my Top 5 fav cars ever...but the stupid half keyless tech (like in the 2019 G)....pure stupidity!

And, there seems to be be plenty of room on the "old" G handles, even behind them to add true keyless sensor/button. Laziness and stupidity on MBZ's part! This is the biggest issue (besides the rear headrests) I have with the 2019 G!!!

Does it come with a fax machine too...?

What an epic fail. (Mine just arrived at port. Let's see what happens...)

I wonder if you could program the key fob to automatically unlock the car when it gets within a certain proximity to the car? Most other cars sense when your hand is on the door handle to unlock, but I wouldn't mind unlocking the entire car if I'm within 5 feet of the car.

Its annoying no doubt especially when your hands are full. The connect me app does allow for locking and unlocking remotely. I wonder if they could do some sort of proximity setting in the app that allows for locking and unlocking .

I don't think MB is stupid, but rather this is typical marketing krap. Car manufacturers pull this stunt all the time, in many forms and variations. They purposely hold back little tidbits and features so they can claim a new feature on next years model. So, look for keyless entry to emerge in the MY2020 or 2021, who the hell knows what year, but it will be touted as a new feature for the model year.

Here's the thing. The usually bundle it with a $2000+ optional package that forces you to get that package just to get the
Keyless GO. It is not a separate option that you can select on it's own.....at least on the E series it's that way.

Have been thinking about this. I wonder if it has more to do with the door locks and latches (and no soft close) that all of the reviewers and product people say is “real G’ — that is, the chunk of the door when you close it.

whether its true or not; but MB is on record stating it does have to do with the old school locking mechanism.
