2019 G550 - interior cabin pressure too high...

Anyone else experiencing excessive cabin pressure with the a/c on and the recirculate function off? Seems like the pressure venting is inoperative and it hurts your ears?

No worries, as soon as the windshield cracks, that will relieve the excessive pressure buildup!

Not sure if this is related or just normal. But I have noticed when I have used the air conditioning and then park and turn the car off, when I open the door it seems to pop open rather easily. Almost like built up pressure being released. Thought it was normal until I read this post.

The cabin/doors are water tight now - notice the new seals - yes, at highway speeds with aircon running fan-higher you can build "higher than last fen" air pressure - "original" carrie over upper relief vents upper rear quarter don't hack it as good as they should..

Unsure if it’s related, but I noticed when our 2019 G63 was running with doors closed (parked in our driveway) that there was air being blown out of two vertical black vents/slats at the top, rear corners of the truck (essentially at the end of the rear side glass). Perhaps this is part of an exhaust system to balance an overpressure to help keep it completely sealed?

Correct - those "rear gills" are the pressure/release vents.. carry over from last gen

My 19 G550 has the pressure issue, it is terrible. I cannot be in the car without the window open or in recirc mode. If you open the door without these things on it shoots out at full speed. Your head hurts in it. Mercedes tells me its a problems others ha e but there is no solution now or for months to come.

This is very easy to quantify, just take a barometer with you and check the readings with the window open and then with the window closed and then you will know exactly whether you need the car or your head checked!

No more MB:(
This is interesting. So nothing like this exists on the previous gen G's? It's like being in a submarine.

The dealer knows its the car. If you run the car then open the window after 30 seconds you can clearly hear the pressure release and feel air rushing in.

NOPE! G #10 or so all the way back to 2002 and now we have two 2018 G63s. No pressure issues. And everyone keeps talking about watertight door seals on the all new G. The water wading depth from the 2018 to the 2019 G is not much difference. I don't think the 2018 G is made of Papier Mache! 2018 and older G....one of the most robust, tightest built Mercedes ever!

Of course the air rushes in when you open the door, pushing the door open (especially when done quickly) creates a negative pressure gradient as the door is opening until enough air rushes in to equalize it just like closing the door quickly creates a positive pressure gradient until the air escapes from the vents. The bottom line is you can measure this with a barometer and seek appropriate help based on the result. I have 5000 miles on my 2019 G63 ED1 and no pressure issues whatsoever although the door seals are tight so when they are slammed shut or opened quickly I can feel the pressure gradient momentarily.

Seems like only a tinsy tiny subset of 2019 G owners are reporting this phenomenon. If it is a design or manufacturing defect, why wouldn’t this issue be present in virtually all new G’s?

Dealer told me that Mercedes has many people with the issue and several that have called service at that dealership over it. I don't think its teeny tiny. Service manager at my dealership told me he wouldn't accept it in his car but mercedes solution was to drive with the window open until they come up with a fix in 4-6 months.

Our 2019 G63 does NOT do that, not even close. That’s not a system wide issue — there’s definitely something wrong with yours. Hope they can get it corrected.

We can tell it’s air tight and ears sometimes pop at first if you open a window, but it’s not like that.
