Mercedes g Wagon Spare tire Ring Powder Coating

Hi All,

Still waiting for my new g63 to deliver ...might be a 2020 model ...who knows...In the meantime, I was going to have the chrome spare tire ring powder coated...a couple of questions:

1) What color is suggested to match the appearance of the factory night package...gloss black? medium gloss black?

2) I assume the key locking strap is removed for the powder coating process?

3) The ring has a rubber/plastic washer around the edges (on both sides) of the tire ring...Does removing and reinstalling this plastic ring break it? or basically destroy the new powder coating finish upon re-installation ?

Thank you for your help--- Cheers

What color g did you order?

When I get my G I plan to swap my black packaged ring for a silver one (i got the black package for the bullbar, but I like the vinage look of the silver wheel cover!)

I got my 2019 G550 in November and decided to convert to night package so had the chrome ring powder coasted along with the front bullbar. The washer comes off easily and was put right back on powdercoating as was the latching mechanism which was re-revited back on. I haven't taken off the rubber washer to see if it damaged the powdercoating but not sure I'd take the chance to check.

We did gloss black figuring it would be more durable than a lesser gloss black.

Hope this helps.
