Headlights swap

I’m swapping my stock headlights for led ones. Simple enough swap except it seems there are two connectors for the stock ones and only one for the led ones. Leaving the bottom connector(pictures) still seems to allow function, but the new led headlights supposed to have turn signals too. What does this bottom connector do? And what should I use it for now? New headlight functions for regular beam, daytime running lights and high beam(so exactly the same as stock except the new led turn function doesn’t work).

Stock below, new led above

The unused connector

This is where the unused connector used to go

Question: I assume you're replacing HID headlights, I see the ballast at the bottom of the old lights.

Maybe the extra connector on the old light to power the HID ballasts or the self leveling features.

To get the turning functionality, my guess is one of the pins in the purple harness has an extra pin (compared to the old light) for the turning functionality. You would probably have to tap into the turn signals to enable that.

Curious to see what the LED lights look like, mind sharing the front side?

Ah that leveling makes sense and yea I’m swapping from HIDs. I left them disconnected and taped to other wires just to keep it in place. Taking photos of LEDs show flickering but it’s not really there. The outside ring is fully lit.

The quality is actually pretty darn nice. I was very surprised(especially for the price). I got it through a vendor on Alibaba:

https://www.alibaba.com/product-deta...912aac53CnJ4Hx

I can't say what it's like with other vendors but this particular one has really taken care of me. Got other goodies coming. The box that the headlights came in actually had a wooden box that they made to protect it. I was quite impressed by that(even has a door hinge!) ;p

Got these fender “vents” too and they were very well packed and the weave was perfect. Zero complaints. They also instructed me on how to connect the turn signal on the new headlights(just have to tap the positive wire on the turn signals to a yellow wire inside the headlights)

Oh my, sir. That is really Pandora's box... It's been a few years since I visited Alibaba, didn't know so many venders were now selling retail. What embargo?

Bwahahaha. Yep, it's definitely Pandora's box. Especially when you find a vendor who has proven that their items are legitimately nice. Alibaba's payment system is pretty darn impressive(as far as safeguarding the buyer) so I definitely felt safer trying it out now compared to a few years back.

Did you tap into the yellow wire with the positive turn signal to gain Amber functionality?

I didn’t. I still have my fender signals and didn’t want too much going on when I turn.

Looks to be a very nice cutoff and even output. The stock HID might put out a bit more brightness though...not sure.

Definitely possible. I'm using the Morimoto 35W HID kit with it - I've used them on a few other cars so they've been good to me.

Ah. This makes sense then. Yours came with a halogen headlamp bulb and you put in a HID kit.

The OP’s headlamp i believe is powered by leds (not just the DRL)

We need pics OP! Lol. cutoff/output with the LED Main bean.

Doubt the headlights are LED, pretty sure they are halogen/ HID also.

You should try the morimoto 55W HID kit. Twice the brightness

Yeah, I thought about going with that. I had that kit on a C class I had a long time ago. Problem was I got flashed all the time. You're right, twice as bright, but even pointed correctly people still thought my high-beams were on.

I was just about purchased the mansory style headlights for my 14 G63 but these look really sick. I think these LED are much brighter than the mansory style so now I am confused on what to do ??

I would love to wire them to the turn signals anyone do that yet
