I put Pirelli Scorpion All Terrain Plus 275/55R20 in place of my 275/50R20 stock tires. These are not loud, as a matter of fact, I can't tell the difference from stock. They have made my speedo about 3 MPH slow at 65 MPH, so you have to be mindful that you are speeding when you don't think you are. They made my car about 1/2 higher. Super Happy with these.

Any rubbing issues? I'm going to be ordering 285/45/22 which is just a tad taller then the set up you have, from what I've seen on old G's it will work but just want to confirm.

Thank you

Adding the General Grabber ATX 275/55R20 to the pics. I also bought a larger spare so that it would match the new tire diameter.

I just installed the H&H springs for a 1.5 inch lift. Curious how big of a tire I can run now? Anyone have any idea? I don’t mind doing some minor trimming in the fender but don’t want to rub.

Very cool. How’s the ride? Id like to do the same

LeTech (European Gwagon off-road outfitter) is running 285/55/20 KO2s (32.3 inches) on their 1.5 inch lift.

So far the ride seems almost the same. I think I only paid around $400 for the H & H springs so I was willing to take the gamble. Had it realigned and it drives well. Maybe just a little more body sway on curvy roads. Now just trying to decide on if I want to pony up for new wheels or if the factory wheels are good enough. I wish the 2019 G550s came with a 20 inch black wheel option. I plan on using this off road. So don’t want anything larger than a 20 inch wheel.

Great to gear!

I’ll take that same $400 gamble.

if you’re going off-road you actually want the smallest wheel that fits so you can get the most tire sidewall possible (allows to air down the tire for more traction and resistance to tire puncture).

Check out jackwagon on this forum. They have some killer 18 inch Hutchinson (the company that makes the OEM wheels for the G550 6x6) beadlock wheels that came out recently. I’d like a pair of those.

Sorry that’s what I meant. Is nothing bigger than a 20 inch. I really wish there was a 17 inch option for off road. So is there really a 18 inch wheel that will fit over the front brake calipers?

Yes, they’ll fit. Mercedes offers a matte black 18 inch OEM option for 2020. Didn’t chose them as the G550 AMG package excluded the 18 inch option. The G550 AMG package does not change the brake size, it only adds “Mercedes Benz” script to the calipers.

You don’t want 19’s. There are no real all terrain/Hybrid/mud terrain tires in a 19 inch wheel size that will fit the G. The best options for off-road tires are in a 18 and 20 inch wheel size.

Plenty of pricy options from HRE and the sort, but for the price, look and functionality of beadlocks, I’d look for the Hutchinson 2059 Rock Monsters in 18.

I love off-roading (everything from mudding on ranches, to Hidden Falls here in Texas to driving up and down Texas beaches) and would love to eventually take my G to Moab. (I drove the trails of Moab last summer in my personal vehicle; teetering on 3 wheels facing downward at 30 degrees on slick rock will get your adrenaline going).

Here are my notes on tire and wheel options, I haven't made up my mind yet on which direction to go. I wish I knew if a 33x12.5 will rub after I put the H & H springs on this 2019 G550 for what they say is a 1.5 inch lift. I forgot to measure how much more space the new springs added between the top of the fenders and the top of the tire. With the new springs its 5.5 inches in the front fenders and 6.5 inches in the rear fenders. Thats the outside edge of the fender, eyeballing to the top of the center of the tire.

Here are some wheel options that I like that should fit the new G wagons.

Vossen HF-2 Satin Black red centers

Vossen HF-5 Textured Black

Formula Defender

Black Rhino Trabuco

XD842

I have an email into jack wagon to see if these 18 inch beadlocks will fit over our front brake calipers.
https://jackwagonoverlanding.com/pro...eadlock-wheels

Here are all the tire options that I am debating in my head on. Would love some input on this forum if others have run these size tires. Seems like the LT285/55R20 are a safe bet.

Cooper discover AT3 XLT
LT285/55R20 R 106mph
32.36x11.7

LT305/55R20 S 112 MPH
33.35x12.2

Falken Wildpeak AT3W
LT285/55R20 T 118 MPH
32.4x11.2

LT305/55R20 S 112 MPH
33.2x12.3

Goodyear Duratrac
33x12.5R20 Q 99 MPH
32.8x12.5

Toyo open country AT3
These tires are brand new from Toyo and have a lot of sizes that might work for us with new G wagons.

285/55R20 T 118
32.4x11.7

295/55R20 T 118
32.8x12.2

305/50R20 T 118 MPH
32x12.4

33x12.5R20 Q 99 MPH
32.5x12.5

KJ,

How much did you need to trim? What year is your G? Do you think that same size would fit a 2020 G63 without rubbing? Love that look.

I don’t know yet. I ordered the 18 inch Hutching bead lock wheels. But they take 6 weeks to build. So hoping to get them in the next couple of week. Those 18 inch wheels I heard will not fit on the G63.

Not as aggressive as some of the ones posted but I went with the Yokohama Geolander AT on my 2015 G63. Pretty happy with it.

I want to go with the Toyo open country 33x12.5R20 on my 2020 G63 so bad, but I know it's gonna rub for sure.

Is there a risk of voiding the factory warranty if you change tire size?
In this case I'm going from the stock Pirelli P Zero All Season 275/50R20 to the new Pirelli Scorpian A/T Plus 275/55R20 (only 1" difference).
The tire shop said I should check with the dealer about possibly voiding the warranty if I make the change.

I’ve had my car in for service, as well as numerous warranty issues and other than the service people gathering around my car commenting on how nice my tire setup is, they have never said anything about I should be wary of the warranty. Don’t know how or why it would affect the warranty unless it interfered and destroyed something under the wheel well. I’ve got about 10,000 miles on these tires and very happy with them. The only downside is that I have lost about 1-2 MPG since installing

Did the larger spare tire fit inside the OEM Spare Tire Cover on the back? I'm looking at doing the same and don't want to order 5 new tires if the spare won't fit inside the spare tire cover. Thanks. I have a 2020 G63.

No, it is too large to fit in the spare tire cover.
I’m removing the cover and turning the new spare around with a flip-mount.

Picked up a nice set of forged wheels I found on eBay for a good price. They came with 33x12.5 r22 Nitto Trail Grapplers. Love the aggressive look of the tires but are very noisy on road. I’m probably going to swap them out with the Nitto Ridge Grapplers. Reviews seem to be good. Sorry for the crappy pics

305/50R20 on G550?

Has anyone here run 305/50R20 on the stock 8.5 inch wheels on their 2019+ G550?

Only issue I could see is rubbing, as it is about 1.2 wider than the 275/50 stock tires. And 32 tall, which is about an inch more and max from all accounts I have read here. Seems like they should fit without a spacer.

Thinking General Grabber ATX in this size, looking for something with snow rating for mountain runs and occasional trail, but mostly a road tire.

Would love to know thoughts or see pix if anyone has done this.

For comparison here 305/50 is relative comparison to 285/50 that many run here...
