This is the response I received:
"As dealers are managed independently, sales negotiations are exclusively between them and the customer. It is recommended to contact the Sales Manager with any vehicle order concerns, as they are in the best position to assist."
In reply I stated that they, MB, set the MSRP, not the dealer, who is selling all Gs at MSRP or higher, and that I may cancel my order and buy a RR.

Since 30 years ago or more, Every Purchase Order has at the end this: *Pricing is subject to change. Mercedes-Benz reserves the right to make changes without notification. MBUSA is not at fault because your SA or dealership didn't told you about or you didn't read it. The dealer sales the cars at MSRP whatever that is and in the past 10 years this the only time that i know about a price increase after release.

Agree. I have been buying new cars for years and I read every contract, but never have a placed an order at a specified price only to see it change thereafter. If they want to raise the price fine, but those that have sales contracts with dealers should not be affected, no matter what the fine print says.

The most frustrating argument is the "people buying a G don't care about money", and "it's only 4%". This is a crazy expensive car, and likely the most expensive car I'll ever buy, and a 6% / 9K increase between ordering and pickup *is* a big deal. MB and Dealers need to recognize that - the overall buying experience of this particular car has been, by far, the worst I've ever experienced - and this'll be the most profitable deal I've ever given to a dealership or brand.

The other downside of the bait and switch here is that those of us with non-refundable deposits are locked in at MSRP. So, if MSRP is raised by 20%, we either have to pay it or forfeit $$$.

Dealers are not happy and customers are not happy. Is just a kind of unique situation. I don't think it happened in the past 10 years. The bad news is that no dealership will discount $4000.

What is Mercedes-Benz's justification for raising the price a second time, anyway? Pure greed? I have been buying very expensive vehicles for a long time and have never experienced of anything like this. I was excited for the impending delivery of mine but now I just feel annoyed whenever I think about it and find myself browsing Lamborghini Urus online. Yes, it is significantly more expensive but the thought of doing business these scumbags makes me nauseous.

The next set of allocations should be disbursed this coming week so this is a good time.

The only thing I have a real problem with, is the deposit. If you cancel your order, any dealer that keeps your deposit in this situation (legal or not) Is just scum.

I understand the frustration, but it is not like the Volkswagen Group is selling Lamborghinis out of benevolence. If the demand suddenly outpaces supply, at the current price, they will do the exact same thing. Thats just the way businesses work. I think the ONLY reason they haven’t raised the price is because the demand for that particular car is saving the entire brand. Mercedes doesn’t have that problem.

Updated pricing every model year is normal, but deciding to randomly bump the price once more a few months later then applying new greed bump to people who agreed to an initial price, left a deposit to either swallow the cost or forfeit the deposit something entirely new. I wouldn’t object or care if MB decides to increase MSRP by $20k for the 2021 model year because at least then, I would know the price, decide if it’s worth it and if so, leave my deposit on the price agreed to.

I am with you on that one!. Just had Bray installed on my windshield. If anyone is in the NYC / NJ area, I can highly recommend the quality, service and pricing at Always Clean Cars. They have a ver nice shop, they have loaner Tesla's, their prices are very reasonable (average for any estimates I have seen). I will be posting photos this week on the ceramic coating, tint of lights and reflectors, bray windshield install.

I didn’t realize there was a second price increase. I missed it by a week! Wasn’t bummed about the first one as now the dual screen is standard and some small interior upgrades. Also, I purposely waited for the 2020 as I never buy a first year vehicle. Poor move by Mercedes-Benz on the pricing adjustment during the model year - puts the dealer and customer in a bad place. Will see if this keeps the pre-owned market insanely strong.

The fist mistake is dealing with a dealership that asks for non-refundable deposits. If they ask for that, everything thereafter will only be to screw you out of your money.
What keeps them from promising more cars than they have allocations for the sake of collecting deposits?
It happened a few years ago with a Florida Porsche dealer handing out “spots” for the GT3. SA made out with millions and split the country.

Seems the price increases apply to all G63 that has not arrived at dealers before the date they increased the price, including cars that are already in intransit. I thought it was originally only going to be for factory allocations granted to dealers after the date, but this week a bunch of G63 have hit the showroom with stickers that show the price increase. This means that these cars were already built and in transit when the price increase was announced.

G63 isn’t my first long wait/ high demand rodeo. I’ve waited even longer for a few other cars with Porsche and Land Rover being the most similar (non-exotic). There was a year + waiting list for Range Rover when they were released in 2013 and people were paying tens of thousands over. They never switched the price up on me as my vehicle entered production. Never has happened with any GT vehicle from Porsche either.
