Hey Bob, just wait 3-6 months and you'll be flooded with requests.
I'm a banker and the current market situation is so bad that there's literally nothing to compare to in history.
We are in for a rude awakening and dealers will be bending over backwards to sell you something.
I know people are saying that there will be less supply but you can for sure bet that the demand will be way way lower than the supply.
Just brace yourself and cheers to you if you can afford a $150K vehicle during depression.
I was lurking on this forum for a long time to see when I can buy one at MSRP but I think I'm going to save my money and buy another investment property instead.
The housing market will tank like 2008 (or worse). Anyways, for now I'm planning to hold all my cash and watch from the sidelines.

America is strong, we'll be back sooner than later. Luxury vehicles will definitely take a hit along with many other industries. This wasn't based on economics and prior to COVID, we were strong with some cooling off happening. There will definitely be a NEW normal, even with the vaccine out but rest assure we WILL be back :-)

Any predictions on when dealers will start to discount the G-wagons? 1 months? 3 months? They need cash too so having inventory sitting on showroom floors that people can't visit is going to get old really fast.

LOL I still think its going to be a bit much longer than 3 months thats for sure, if ever. New Gwagons will eventually sell for sticker more than likely.

This virus problem is going to get way worse before it gets better. 150k vehicle purchases go out the window for many (even wealthy) folks real quick. The real joke is the dealers with 19 models with 20k plus miles still advertising for sticker and over. That will not last, and shouldn't

If I was not so picky I would be searching for one to buy now! But in order to convince my wife to give up her SUV I needed to make it look just like she wanted inside. Otherwise I would have to drive my Porsche or Harley all the time, which are not taken out in the rain so I had to agree with her!

Mercedes dealer's are not allowed to "advertise" prices over MSRP - and in today's connected world new Dealer Inventory often is auto-posted to sites like Cars.com - or "pulled" from Dealer websites by tools like Cars.com - so that's where/why you see G's "advertised at MSRP".
Often on supply limited models - "auto-post" or "auto-post" can include vehicles that have come into the dealership for specific customer order - in other words you can see MB's on 3rd party sites that are not available.
What price a Dealer chooses to sell a G for - is what they choose - up or down or all around.
"Discounts" are dependent on Dealer Margin and Additional Mercedes Support.. Dealer Margin on G's hasn't changed - and G's don't have Additional Mercedes Support..
Anything else is just conjecture/opinion...

It's gonna come down to supply vs demand. Supply is going down. Demand is going down. Let's see which decline outpaces the other.
I'm rooting for decline in demand to outpace decline in supply. I want to see G-wagons sell for discounts off MSRP. I want dealers to suffer after years of dealing with their hubris. Nothing would make happier than to drive off the lot with a G-wagon at a discount off MSRP while the dealer worries about how he's going to pay his floor inventory financing next month.

My deals were for MSRP minus the dealer fee (a lot here in FL) and when the first one comes in if the dealer will give me #5k more for my thread I might get it, if the wife likes the Platinum Magno, and if not I will wait for the Desert Silver. However, as soon as this virus resolves and the economy gets moving things will start to slowly change so I hope the first one gets here sooner albeit the plant has to open first - when it does it will be one of the first to roll out.

Some say it will be a quick recovery and others claim it will take years to get the economy restarted. Fact is people are unemployed, factories closed, business closed, construction stopped, etc. Tons of companies are taking a hit and some will go bankrupt. It's a domino effect and COVID19 brings a lot of uncertainty. During uncertain times people stop spending on luxury items. Sure, some dealerships (SoCal) will try hard to sell you the idea that you can't purchase at MSRP but that will not last. Fortunately, there are couple members that have purchased at MSRP. Therefore, if you are in the market to purchase one don't expect to pay over MSRP anymore.

Lol many must be feeling some type of way after spending thousands and thousands over sticker only for this to happen. Then again no one ever saw this coming or could have ever predicted it.
I’m in the business and trust me when I tell you guys the next few months will be crazy. G wagons most definitely will not be selling over sticker they’ll be lucky to get close to sticker now/move any.
It’s a strange situation. ESP in the north east buyers are canceling left and right. Dealers are closed most can’t even conduct online business without risking a fine.

Yeah, I am rooting for these dealers to suffer because their greed has run rampant for years without anything to check their hubris. How many of us have tried to buy at MSRP only to be laughed out of the dealership? Ironically, the Germans have a word for this: schadenfreude.
So you're rooting for difficult times so you can get a better deal. If dealers suffer that means so many other businesses are suffering too. Nice.

2020 G63, 2021 E450 All-Terrain Wagon
Data point - Multiple dealers in the NE, Colorado, PNW and more are still either selling above MSRP or will not ship out of state (at least a few). Highest markups are from FJ Mercedes (typical) and from Mercedes of San Jose who told me that they were willing to drop their 75K markup to 35K (so generous!) - it's crazy how these dealers are still pricing these cars. Although I already secured mine, these numbers are from some back and forth with other dealers out of curiosity. Less crazy but still crazy bad offers are from Keyes - 22K over on a weird G63 color combo and 7K over on G550s. However, I did come across an amazing Lunar Blue with night package plus G550 at BH Benz for MSRP. good luck!

I was chatting with Graham Rahal, who I have done business with in the past and who also has a high end shop in Brownsburg, IN, and this is what he told me last night when I asked him about Gs:
"Hi Bob. At this time the G is what keeps us alive. We’ve sold every G we’ve advertised this month within 2 days of listing. We picked up a new G on Saturday and it sold that afternoon. I feel like our pricing while still above msrp is reflective of current market or below which is why we sell them so quickly!"

Mercedes Benz of Beverly Hills - their website literally says they're selling it for MSRP (confirmed with sales person too over text).
Also most inventory I've seen has been sitting for weeks at these dealers.

they are selling the G550 at MSRP. Also one dealer told me they had a G63 at MSRP in Rubellite Red but it literally has zero options and they cannot ship the car - you would need to pick it up in person. PM me if you want the info.
