Press the button on the far left ride by the door and hold for 2 seconds until the light goes off.

you mean start/stop? If it’s in sport/ plus mode that defaults to deactivating it. I deactivate it too.

I hate that it can’t stay permanently off. My RR stays off permanently.

The G Class lane keep really is a terrible implementation.

I like the vibrational warning. It’s soft but let’s you know you may be drifting. But then it violently shoves you back towards the center of the lane without provocation. Other cars do this but only if there’s actually a car in the way that may cause a collision. g wagon does it whenever it feels like it!

The weird thing is that my old 2016 C63 had lane keep and it was a much better implementation.

Yes it’s terrible!! I wish it would always stay off like my Range Rover. If anyone knows how to keep it off permanently let me know.

I really don't think it would be worse in the G. My wife's 2016 GLE does it badly as does my 2018 C43. I really think overall the feature is terrible regardless of the model. The steering wheel vibration is fine but pulling the car violently is not a good thing.

Is there any way to permanently disable this feature? Dealer, OBD toggle? Anything ?

I get a heart attack each time it violently jerks the entire car.

In response to both issues discussed in the posts above:
1. ECO On/Off - I permanently disabled mine by disconnecting the sensor at the main battery's negative terminal. Alternately, you can purchase an OBD dongle from Midcity Engineering that allows you to switch it on and off. Or (if you haven't read the owners manual), you can shift the dynamic drive mode out of Comfort each time you start the car.
2. LKA - I permanently disabled this by removing the switch module containing the LKA disable/ enable switch and adding a device to this switch module that mimicks pressing the deactivate button for 3 seconds. This is not a simple fix, but it reliably kills LKA each time the car is started. PM me for more info if interested.

Perhaps it would be possible to put a piece of diffusing film over the LCA input camera/sensor. That way the sensor could still see light and dark (and therefore not trigger an error), but would not be able to visualize the lane markings and therefore, never trigger. On many cars this sensor is located on the windshield behind the rear view mirror.

Or, hopefully, Mid City will come up with another handy fix for this like they have for so many things.

There was a earlier post several weeks ago in which a G owner described covering the LKA camera with a piece of blue painter's tape. He reported no ill effects -- speed limit signs still appear on the nav screen and no errors codes tripped. The tape solution is no different than a covering of mud or snow on that part of the windscreen (above the wiper coverage), so this is likely a harmless way to circumvent the LKA annoyance. I communicated with a rep of Midcity and suggested they figure out a solution and market a combo ECO On/Off and LKA OBD dongle. Maybe they'll come up with a fix.

The good thing with the GLE is once you turn it off...it stays off.
