My PPF installer does not use either but when I asked him he said that he did not have good experience with Exoshield; however, some here use it and swear it works. Search this forum for other opinions. There is actually an active thread now: https://mbworld.org/forums/g-class-w...ng-2020-a.html

I ended up researching and found my way to an interesting thread on rennlist about this. Basically seems like you will find fans of both and detractors of both as well.

Im going with exoshield because the people who will do my PPF also do it so one stop shop.

I should have mentioned that as well since I have been on Rennlist for years but yes, mixed opinions all over!

I have clearplex on one of my Ferrari's and it has saved my windshield several times. It had to be installed twice as the first install was horrible, it left waves in the film and completely distorted my vision with oncoming lights. I recommend it, just make sure its installed by a pro unlike the clowns that installed mine the first time.

I have Exoshield on mine and so far so good. The install was good, no waves or anything noticeable during use. To me its worth the $400. Always a chance something might happen but for the small cost, I'd do it. I have no experience with Clearplex.

I had Clearplex installed on my Speciale 5 years ago ($300...a bargain), and there is zero distortion. I know it's there, so I can see it (it's subtle) when I look at the windshield from the outside. You can't see it unless you're looking for it. From the driver's seat you can't see it at all. I just had Clearplex installed on my 2020 G 63 a couple of weeks ago (same installer $300), and zero distortion. I think $500 or so is a more common price. Still well worth it, IMHO.

Maybe we have more bugs in Utah, but I'm going to start buying Safelite Glass Cleaner by the case!

It's still worth it Ask your installer if he applies a ceramic coating on top of the ClearPlex? I think my installer told me that he does this as part of the process. It wasn't clear to me if this is something all installers do?

Clearplex just saved my windshield... rock on highway hit bottom part of my windshield at high speeds... damaged clearplex and zero mark on glass... it’s 💯 percent needed. You just can’t be hyper particular because in small spots, I have some bubbles post installation but I have to remind myself that it’s there to protect my windshield, not for perfection... probably change it out every 2 years.

Awesome great to hear. Yes I believe these products need to be changed every 2-3 years.

Great story.. I was juggling between exoshield or clearplex, but this tells me which one to get. Do you mind sharing the shop info? I live in NJ too.

Somebody in this forum (thanks again) tipped me off to the Exoshield Glass Protection Program warranty. For an additional fee Exoshield will cover windshield replacement after installation.

My installer said it is $250 to cover $3000 which is their max--no brainer for me to add that on.
