I like the offset and these 35” tires have no rubbing issues. The guys at Eurowise let me borrow a set of Bilstein shocks as the Kings I want are on back order. Besides the tire noise and feel, the G actually drives smoother and the alignment is better now. I did add the front and rear panhard bars and radius arms to stabilize it at highway speeds.
next comes the rack, brush guards, rear tire carrier, blackout of stainless, etc. The fun part.

I couldn't decide whether to lift my G 2" or drop it 2", so I did both. It now looks exactly as it did when I took delivery, and cost me less than $5K to do. (LOL).

Yep, I did. I haven't been able to verify yet, but I think the provision they add to those bars for headlight adjustment worked well. It's interesting that the lights get adjusted by a sensor on that part.

Thanks, Butcher. Your Blue G65 was the inspiration for me buying this one and lifting it. It drives great. No cruise and speedo off a bit are the only drawbacks. Did you ever find a solution to those issues?

Well yours turned out great for sure. Speedo issue could probably be handled with programming, but I haven't had my mechanic mess around with it yet. I installed an escort passport 360ci in the black one and it actually has GPS speed on it, so that is an easy reference. It seems like the speedo is roughly 10% off. At 30mph on the speedo you are actually going 33-34mph. At 60mph you are doing closer to 65mph.

You ready for those 35s yet? If we can't get the intercooler on the 2020 moved some I'm going to have to go back down to the 33s. I should know in the next couple of days.

My concern would be the cummulative odometer error and how to reconcile this with the odometer disclosure affidavit when transferring title. IMO, most people would consider 10% significant when they discovered the stated mileage was not honest. If you are able to have the speed sensor recalibrated, be sure to retain documentation of date and mileage so you have proof of the odometer accuracy.

There could certainly be a potential issue with that, but having sold numerous lifted vehicles (20+) over the years I've never had the issue come up. For the average seller I'd think you would have the argument that the odometer reads X,XXX miles and that's the only indicator you would have as to the vehicle mileage when selling.

The odometer disclosure forms usually provide an opportunity to check a box and specify the actual mileage versus the odometer reading. Of course the seller has to remember to do this, and since this form is usually a detail left to the time at which $$ and keys change hands, you don't want the buyer to suddenly find cause to renegotiate the price. I once bought a new vehicle and halfway through the stack of dozens of forms to sign, I'm handed the odometer disclosure form that stated 250 miles on what was being sold to me as a new vehicle. I refused delivery on it. Fortunately there was another identical vehicle on the lot with 17 miles on it, which was the one I drove away in. Otherwise, I would have expected the dealer to price it as a demonstrator and knock a couple thousand off the price. But I agree many buyers don't consider the consequences of vehicle modifications.

I never thought about that streborx. In my experience, and it's a lot when car selling is concerned, the buyer of a lifted vehicle just wants the shiny object and doesn't care about mileage discrepancies due to larger tires. Having said that, I have been thinking about your comment as I drive down the road in this vehicle. It's an interesting point. Not to mention it's keeping my brain sharp as I calculate speedo/odo totals in my head.

It did take a while, but it’s done. Pretty cool too. The King suspension was a vast improvement over the bilstein. I changed plans along the way a few times as some ideas didn’t look like I wanted, like the front spoiler, etc. the look now works for me. Thanks for asking.

How do the 100mm springs ride compared to Thor springs and a spacer?

I’m not sure about the Thor set up. Butcher probably knows. I do know that my ride is far smoother with the 100mm and Kings than it was with the original AMG setup. It does seem like too much power when you need to get out and pass someone on the highway, but I suppose a G550 would have been a wiser choice. I just like the AMG vehicle better.

Too much power? Never heard of such a thing. I enjoy the sleeper quality of the G63, especially with 35s. Some guy in a new Raptor was showing off the other day on the highway. You should have seen his face when I reeled him in like he was dragging an anchor. Probably went to the Dodge dealer the next day for something quicker like a TRX.

The roof rack was inspired by the Brabus Adventure package rack. Turns out, it’s made by LeTech. The source I purchased it from is no longer available, but here is a link to the same thing at Viking off-road. It’s important to note, however that my G is a 2018 model and there is an ever so slight difference in that vehicle than the 2017 and back. The rack was 4mm too narrow. I had it widened at no small expense so that it would not touch the roof. Otherwise, it will not clear. The recovery boards are easy to source and come and the manufacturer sells the brackets as a universal fit. The axe and shovel mount is a cheap Smittybuilt accessory as the nice ones are custom one offs and I am still in search of something close I can modify so I needn’t start from scratch. You may, depending on your color wish to wrap your roof black. After installing the rack initially, it looked amiss as you could see the color through the rack. Wrapping it matte black helped. I did purchase the front spoiler like the Brabus and spent $900 getting the matte paint finish correct and sourcing the black LED lights, but in the end, I like the look I have now, but it’s noisy due to no aero. If you want the spoiler, I have one cheap! Like really cheap. The lights were a challenge to wire without drilling a hole, but I was able to run them up the A pillars with no modification to the vehicle. Keep that in mind when you begin if you are going to do lights, as it is not super easy to do it without drilling and a 2018 model year uses the MB Bus technology, so splicing into things isn’t an option. The GoGo lights are remote control and turn 370 degrees around and 20 degrees up and down. Very fun actually. I will post photos of lights up close. The are cool. Oh, don’t forget the spare tire carrier, They are not cheap, but it really completes the look.
