2002 G500
AC blows uncooled air.

Recently got a very nice 2002 G500 with about 90k miles. I’m planning on restoring it to pristine condition and driving several days per week to work etc.

The AC blows strong but does not cool the air. summer about here and it’s gonna get hot. I’m inclined to take it to a Benz dealer and have them charge me a ton of money to do everything it needs and a lot of what it probably doesn’t. Any thoughts or advice?

I would take it to a good A/C shop, or better yet, a good MB Indie with A/C expertise, first and have them check the charge level. If it is low (which will prevent the system from running), have them do a leak/dye check. If there is a full charge, check the fuses. They may or may not be able to read the stored codes in the HVAC controller (a good MB should be able to). If not, or you can't find one, you will have to bend over, apply Vaseline, and take it to the dealer.

Vintage car restoration requires patience, commitment and (a) deep pockets or (b) an affinity for dirty hands and scraped knuckles (many times both). Kudos to you, and post some pics of before, after, and along-the-way.
