I have 2013 G550.
a friend said the hooks front won’t be suitable as a hitch point for a winch if I get stuck in the mud. He said they aren’t frame mounted and would rip right off if he tried to pull me out.
can anyone help confirm what the two stock front hooks are mounted to?
I’d be surprised if they are not mounted to the frame… but I’ve been surprised before.
I believe I read somewhere that the hooks are factory tie-down points, and not meant for recovery.
That being said I planned on using them with an equalizer strap as a final option if I got stuck somewhere.
