what is the black box above the headlamp (driver's side within the bezel)?
can anyone tell me what this does? it was unplugged but I found the other side of the plug and plugged it in... I guess I might find out

It's the factory Navigation Antenna. Can remove if you've taken out the factory infotainment screen and/or if you never use the GPS, which no one should ever.
It's OEM as the harness had the matching female plug. From the other replies, it makes sense that it was related to the Navigation ...as the Navi
seems to now work which it wasn't until I plugged this in.
