2003 AMG G55
Introductions...

Hello all! I just purchased a 2003 AMG G55 with 140k on the clock. It appears to have been very well taken care of. I purchased it from a small boutique dealer in Oregon. As a matter of fact, I am still waiting for it to get here! I already have a bunch of parts waiting to go on it as well as getting stocked up on oil, air and oil filters, an extra cam shaft position sensor as well as oil level sending unit plus a host of other mods like a new grill to bring it up to date. First and foremost, I want to spend time fixing any weakness it may have. Of course, I won't know those 100% until I actually get it in my hands! And it is KILLING me as I am like a little kid at Christmas that KNOWS a bicycle is under the tree but I can't leave my room until mom and dad wake up! HA!

I have most of the service records for it and I can see where the usual troubles have already arisen and been dealt with. Window regulators, oil level sensor, leaking valve covers, leaking oil pan, etc. My old BMW used to chew through regulators pretty regularly and I learned a few things using zip ties on the window regulators. Just Google "BMW zip tie mod" if you are curious. I wonder if the same thing can be done with the G55. I got so good on my old BMW that I could replace the regulators in about 15 minutes.

Anyway... Just wanted to say hello. I look forward to pick all of your brains and also giving back when I can.

EDIT - Is there anything you can think of that I need to pay attention to when first getting my G55?

Welcome and congrats on the purchase. G looks great and the stance looks perfect.

Really low traffic on MBWorld these days so you may want to wander over to the ClubGWagen forum for more eyes.

Congratulations, seems like you have a handle on the maintenance piece. Post pics when you get it.
