Desert Sand, thoughts and photos of DS
I am thinking hard on getting a color completely different from the black or white I normally get. I have only found a couple photos of the desert sand. And the configurator is not near enough a match to the actual photos I have found. I would like some feedback if anyone likes or dislikes the color, and for what reasons. Photos of your G in desert sand would be a plus. It seems to me it would be a pretty good color to hide the dust, compared to the dark colors or even the black one I had. I live in a dusty environment. So maybe this is the color for me.
Thanks

I did find a few photos finally but I think I have lost interest.

I was looking at it initially but it reminded me of baby poop, and I do not even have kids. Desert Silver looked better though and it is metallic so that is what I got and every day I see it I am glad I did...I'll get some good pics one of these days:

I like the desert silver color. I agree on the desert sand, and I am not digging it at all now. I would not be happy grabbing the keys in the morning to hop into the BP mobile.
Thanks for the reply

Here are a few more Desert Silver pics from when it arrived at the dealer, which I try not to show since I have done so much to it since that time!

I went down a similar path when ordering my 21’ G63.
Really thought an army tone was appropriate for this truck, and I love the Desert Sand colour of some of the tactical gear I have so thought this was a no-brainer.
Unfortunately the internet photos of this colour differ so greatly (from mustard yellow/baby poo to a proper army tan) it was impossible to determine what the actual truck would look like without laying my own eyes on the colour.
Not having seen one in person I tried to get my local dealer to order a colour chip, however was unsuccessful. You would think Mercedes would happily provide a sample to promote a premium “upgraded” paint job ($$$).
Instead, I had a body shop paint a used fender I had kicking around in Mercedes Desert Sand, and left it in the sideyard outside of my home office so I could look at it in varying degrees of natural light (sun, overcast, low light, etc.).
the conclusion was the even thought I really wanted to love the colour and have an army-tan G wagon, the colour was simply terrible.
Way too yellow, and glossy.
In the end I switched to Dark Olive Magno, and couldn’t be happier with the colour. It’s literally a PERFECT tone for the G.
Good luck with your order.

Great info and thanks for your post and the photos. I have my color in my head and it is white lol. I actually like the clean look and with the black appointments will be cool. (:

If it were more sand colored, then maybe for me. I am sticking with white. I might put the paint upgrade I am not getting into the interior instead. I traded my car for a 2022 G63, so I will see if any colors change when the build sheets come out. But I like white. Great color for the NE dust, and being OCD it is a good clean look for me (:
