Anyone know if MBUSA will allow a custom Designo Manufactur "paint to sample" color order for an additional fee on the G-Class as it does on the S-Class or are we stuck with the colors offered on the order guide?

 

Not sure, Im choosing one of the manufaktur paints but Id imagine the G is a car you take with one of the many colour choices it comes with and happily say yes. They dont need to bend over backwards or do anything special to sell this car unlike their other models.

 

This has come up before--for now the G's only come in what's available online, at least in the US.

I was actually thinking about this when I ordered my 2020 G550 and I contacted the MB Designo Office and was told no...I did not want to rely on the dealer.

 

Only the Sindelfingen plant has that capability.

 

If you really wanted a special color I would suggest Classic Car Motoring in Birmingham, AL. They have a very close relationship with Mercedes, doing one off and other high level paint jobs for them. Think highest level GLS trim that starts with M. I get you would maybe wonder why a place in Alabama but course it’s due to the SUV factory here. I have seen them perfectly match the very metallic black paint on the RR Cullinan on the chrome trim you would swear it came that way.

They are in a new shop now that use to be an old Sams Club. It’s freaking huge in there.
