Winter Tire Options w 22s?
For those with the factory forged cross-spoke 22’s - what have you done for snow/winter tires? My 2016 only had 20’s so I could easily swap snow tires on the existing rims for the winter, but I’m not finding anything that fits the factory rims in a snow/winter tire?
Assuming most people who deal with snow just bought a second set of winter wheels and tires? I’m fine to do that, just making sure there isn’t a winter tire I’m not aware of
Thanks!

There are winter tires available in 22" but you will probably need to change the tire dimensions from OEM. Bridgestone Blizzaks are available in 285/45R22, and (IMO) is an excellent snow tire. As I've opined many times in multiple threads, a second set of wheels on which to permanently mount winter tires is better than flipping tires seasonally on a single set of rims.

I’m running 285/40/22 Perelli winter tires. Vredstein makes a winter tire in this size for about half the cost from Tire Rack. I was forced to go with the Perelli tires, I had to purchase them from my dealership in order to get them to store my tires.

craig, i was told by a tire shop i can change the tire diamter and performance will not be compromised by running Pirellis 285 40 22 but wanted to get a second opinion,
How many season you driven on them ?

OEM size 22’s only come in summer tires as of my extensive research about two months ago. The Pirellis that come with the G63 can be an all season tire, but not in the 22 oem size.
I run 285/40/22 all terrains and it’s fine. The vehicle is one inch taller but it drives the same and no error messages. Also the odometer will run a touch slower than normal and you’ll be going a little faster than the speedometer.

We routinely install the Pirelli 285/40R22 Winter Tire for the G550/G63. Tire Rack will recommend the same.

2024 G 63
I recently heard about some new-ish Michelin All Season tires (Cross Climate 2) that get fantastic reviews. The thing that caught my attention is that these All Season tires perform well enough in snow and ice that they are branded with the 3PMSF symbol. These tires are available in 285/45 22 which work well on my G 63. I'm going to seriously consider these tires for my G 63 when my current tires wear out.
Read the attached review.

The CrossClimate² is Michelin’s Grand Touring All-Season tire developed for the drivers of sedans, coupes, station wagons, crossovers and SUVs looking for daily driving comfort combined with confident performance in dry, wet and light snow conditions. The CrossClimate² meets industry severe snow service requirements and is designed to be a one-tire solution for drivers in environments that experience all four seasons, but don’t receive sufficient snowfall to require a dedicated winter tire. Snow performance is further enhanced by the Thermal Adaptive Tread compound, ensuring the tire remains flexible at lower temperatures for increased snow traction sufficient to receive the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol.
*Note: While non-winter tires featuring the three-peak mountain snowflake (3PMSF) symbol may provide additional longitudinal snow traction beyond what all-season (M+S) tires not bearing the symbol can deliver, they do not match the capability of a true winter tire in all adverse weather conditions.*

Since the truck can come with 21" wheels, is there a way to reprogram the tire size into the car? Via OBD or something the dealer might have?
Or is that kind of thing locked from the factory?

Overall rolling diameter is pretty much the same between the stock 21" and stock 22" wheels so no need to do anything with the programing

21" wheels will fit, but you won't find much in off road worthy tires in 21". 20" will give you more options and provide more sidewall height. I'd do 18" wheels if they clear the rotors and calipers. The more sidewall height, the better for off road.
