2021 G63 with under 1000 miles: $260k with results this week and last. This is wholesale pricing.

I got my allocation (working with a new dealer)...it's a late May production build. If the last of the 2021s trickle in this month, it seems we'll be dry of new cars until June-ish. So who knows when/if/what price stabilization on these cars will look like in the short term (I agree that long term, prices will dip)

If this dealer is being honorable in what they are offering - somebody better snap this up. An MSRP deal is a needle in a hay stack. Very recent Manheim auction results suggest this is worth about $200k wholesale.

That was on a trade in as they would have made the difference in that trade.
I was provided a complementary Carfax subscription by this dealer, and the last Carfax report I received 2 weeks ago had my '19 G550 listed with a $174K trade value. I wonder what would have happened if I walked in with the Carfax report in one hand and a copy of their email in the other hand, and demanded the '21 G and a check for $40K difference?
Is it any wonder dealers have such a bad reputation???

Its happening to the G and to watches because people like you keep paying the stupid ADM's. If everyone stopped paying them tomorrow, they would cease immediately but hey thats a free market I guess

The market is correcting 2 weeks ago they wouldnt even talk about dropping 75-100 adm now its dropping the 2022s are coming and they will get a dose of reality

All true. But if everybody stopped paying ADMs and the prices drpped back to MSRP, how do you decide which one of 50 eager buyers gets the G63?

Right. Herein lies the issue. All of a sudden someone decides $5k ADM is fine, the other says well $10k would’ve been fine with me why did you give it away for $5k over….and so on and so forth. I think the only solution that might be best would be for MB to raise MSRP and do away with ADM given the high demand. That way people can either try and bargain the msrp or pay the higher sticker.

It does all come down to marketing strategy. IMO, the MSRPs for the G550 and G63 are already way above what can be justified compared to other luxury SUVs. You'll never find a G rated as "best value", but you will find it rated as "most coveted". My Lexus LX has a much longer list of options -- rear seat entertainment, heated steering wheel, electric adjustable rear seats, 3rd row seating, a real full-size spare tire -- just to name a few, and its MSRP was 2/3s of my G550's MSRP. But the LX isn't a G -- it's that simple. MB's strategy is take its unique vehicle, price it in a class by itself, limit the supply and let the market decide the clearing prices. Why destroy the G's mystique and panache? Dealers are asking $150K ADMs. Is this robbery and are they hated for scalping buyers? We live in a time when even bad publicity is still seen as free advertising. Is anyone driving around in a G angry that his/her truck's value has climbed into the stratosphere, or that the limited supply and high prices add to the status and prestige of owning one? Even those who have paid a dealer the extra $100K love driving around in a vehicle that those who can afford are waiting in line to buy, and most others will never own. As Tom Clancy said, "the difference between fiction and reality is that fiction has to make sense."

That's the easy part. You create a waitlist with loyal customers getting theirs first and everyone else gets to place a deposit and will get an allocation when it's their turn, exactly how my dealership does it given they cant charge over MSRP for a new car. Its not rocket science.
