Canadian ‘25 G63 owner here. Despite pretty much all Mercedes literature and AI saying it does in both the USA and Canada I cannot get it to work. I’ve followed all the instructions but the digital key option just doesn’t show up in my MB app so I can activate it. The truck is confirmed to have NFC capability, it’s one of the ways you can pair a new phone if you’re a noob with Bluetooth. Hopefully we’ll get an update or something??

I really hope they add support. Maybe since there’s so many MBUX versions, it’s taking them longer to get vehicles supported? Or that the newer models won’t let you lock your Key Fob in the vehicle, but lots of people will be doing this like if you’re heading to the beach so they’re working on how to overcome this? They are German you know, can’t just be “good enough”
Also someone here said the vehicle needs ultra wide band, but there’s many manufacturers using just near field dating back to 2023! Like KIA in the attached pic from the Apple Wiki Car Key List.
Not sure how much I’d even use it, but it would be a sweet thing to have as a backup. I live in Toronto, insane car theft lately. Out of control insane and we’re NOT allowed to protect our property using force, like not even a garden hose lol. So I keep my fobs in a Faraday Pouch inside a lock box that consists of an outer layer of titanium then a layer of water followed by another layer of titanium, then a layer of porcelain, a layer of lead, another layer of porcelain and finally some nice suede. Would have to be some wild radiation to get through that!! Might be overkill, but if I can’t shoot, they can’t relay any signals or open, let alone lift, the Fob box.
Anyways I’m blabbing on. When I run out to get something out of the car I always forget the key and use the app. When I rush out to go somewhere and forget the key it’s a pain in my ***. A digital key would solve this.
TLDR: I want Digital Key and most, if not all, North American (excluding Mexico) models have had the tech to do this since MY’23.
