Upgrading My 2025 G550 to a G63 Look: Questions About OEM Parts and Modifications

Hello, everyone,

I recently purchased a 2025 G550 with the "AMG Line" and "Night Package" in polar white. While I really like the new G550 engine, I want to give it a more aggressive appearance. My plan is to upgrade its look using OEM G63 parts.

Here are some questions I have:
  1. Has anyone done this upgrade using OEM parts for the 2025 model?
  2. To install the 22" AMG wheels with the recommended tire size, would I need to change the "wheel house covering"? I've come across conflicting information and would appreciate some clarity on this.
  3. I'm considering adding G63 mufflers for the look, even though mine is a 6-cylinder. I’m not primarily doing this for the sound, but if it enhances it, that's a bonus. Is this feasible?
  4. I’ve been struggling to get a quote for the parts from the dealer. Can I use W463/W464 parts, such as wide front fenders and mufflers? I've noticed a lot of OEM parts being sold online that have been removed from new vehicles.
  5. Are aftermarket front parts safe to use? I've noticed some options on gwagenparts.com and would appreciate any feedback or experiences.

I know this is quite a few questions, but I would greatly appreciate any guidance or advice to help me with this project.

Thank you in advance, and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

I hate when people answer questions like this with “you’re better off just buying a 2025 G63 and trading”.. but in this case it’s probably accurate. W465 OEM parts are going to be very difficult to get right now with production just starting and extremely expensive. W463/W464 bumper will likely not work, an exhaust might be able to retrofitted but that’s probably it and you would need to verify.

Your exhaust connections to the muffler box will have to be custom fabricated to utilize the G63 exhausts.

I don’t know what you’re asking with the wheels. As long as you’re using the stock tire diameter there should be no issue with swapping them.

To do everything your talking about with parts, paint, fabrication, shipping and labor.. I would guess min 25-30K. Probably significantly more though, especially with brand new parts.

2026 G63
1. Nobody has done this as far as I know on a 2025.
2. Wheels should work fine as long as the tires are stock size. To be sure look up the tire diameter for your OEM tires and for the ones you are swapping into.
3. There have been posters here with pre-2025 G550s that installed G63 mufflers, I believe the entire thing has to be replaced? Not sure if it changes with the new engine.
4. Buying them from the dealer is going to be rather expensive, and you may be able to get parts cheaper online but shipping will be killer. No idea on the W463A versus W465 parts and the dealer isn't going to be very helpful.
5. Aftermarket parts for cosmetic purposes are probably fine but I'd be hesitant to replace genuine OEM Mercedes parts with aftermarket parts.

I agree with AMGGA's assessment. At the end of the day it's your time and money, but if I were in your shoes, I'd just enjoy the G550 as it is and get in line for a G63.

from the pictures I'm assuming you PPF the whole car since you have door handles and trim removed, not sure. . and OP for the record they have kits that can transform an old model G's W463 (2002-2018) to a new ones W464 but that is all aftermarket of course if your doing OE i do not see why it would not fit, 25 model just has another face lift ( exterior )

Thank you so much for sharing the picture—it looks fantastic!

Would it be possible for you to provide the details and prices of the parts needed to upgrade the front components to G63 specifications?

Additionally:
  • Did you upgrade your wheels to a larger size? If so, did you need to replace the wheel housing covers?
  • What modifications, if any, were made to the mufflers?
I truly appreciate your time and assistance!

To be honest several weeks I tried to order parts from mercedes without sucess. Always saying they will not feature, not for that car etc etc and lack of availability. Then when almost quiting I get a contact guys buying parts from people upgrading from G63 to brabus kits. So I bought all parts at once even in matching color on the bumpers. I can't tell if there are common parts on G550 and G63 that you don't need to buy (there are for sure) because bought all pack. But for sure you need front bumper, front grill with logo etc, the round of the lights and front side arches. I compare rear arches and rear bumper and they are 100% same , pointless to order.

I upgraded my wheels to 22" but didn't drove the car yet. Waiting for painted parts (the grey mate ones)

I got also the mufflers but i want to sell them because i will not touch that. To be honest I don't like the side exhausts.

Nice work. Looking to replace the Grille on my G580, was wondering if you had any of the part numbers or anymore detail on the AMG g63 parts you installed? Would also love to see some completed photos if you've got any?

Thanks!

This is going to be my harshest comments on MBWorld I've made yet because it's all so ridiculous. U get the G63 for its performance (the looks just come with it). Why even bother getting a G550 look like a G63 cosmetically when it lacks the performance? Ur time, ur money, but the end result will always be subpar performance relative to a G63. No idea of your marital or dating status, but good luck at explaining it to your girl... If anything, it would be even more embarrassing than if you simply responded "The G550 is more economical and a better daily driver for my lifestyle". I would concur with several above and just save up and get a G63.

Not to mention, but there goes your resale price. Even if u kept the original parts, the buyer will want you to restore it to its original state.
