Lead time for 2025 G63

I need some guidance from the community. I placed an order for a G63 at $5k over MSRP in early August 2024. The dealer advised me the build date would be February 7, 2025. Today I contacted by SA to confirm the build date and he adviserd me he can't give me a definitive answer and that its likely my order is being pushed back to April 2025. The SA further advised me that he monitors the situation every week and would advise me when my build will commence. Have any of you been in a similar situation where the dealer tells you a specific build date and then all of a sudden that build date changes? Am I being taken for a ride or did they give away my build slot to another buyer who paid more? Or is it possible they never had the allocation when they took my deposit six months ago? Thank you in advance for your input.

In the past dealers had a general idea of when allocations come as it’s the same every year, but it does seem like this years allocations were fewer?

I think it’s unlikely they had a true allocation for February that was known in August, and furthermore it’s odd to promise somebody a build date six months in advance, usually dealers here will say you are second or third in line etc.

So either they didn’t get an allocation on time that they expected (possible) or they gave your slot away.

I did have 2 build slots with my Dealer reserved this past fall. I ended up with2 because a few build options were not available for the first slot so we placed 2 orders. The build slots were 9/27/24, and 10/27/24. The 9/27 build was built without delay, however the 2nd build date was pushed back twice. First it was pushed to 12/29/24 and now has been moved to 1/23/25. So there is apparently some type of delay that is pushing out build dates. It could be MB slowing manufacturing to create more of a demand. I would recommend asking your sales advisor for the PO number associated with your build slot. This way at least you will know your slot did not get switched in the background. If the advisor can't or won't give you one... it may be possible your "slot" may be fluid as other customers may be willing to pay above the $5K ADM you have agreed to.

When I ordered my G550 back in July, the SA showed me the build screen in their MB system and had proposed dates of build and arrival dates. Perhaps your SA would be willing to send you a screenshot.

Do you have a PO#? If you still dont have a po# for your build its likely they are playing with you and have just moved you down the line to get in customers that are willing to pay a larger adm. Happened to me by a few months but the dealer was transparent with me about it.
